Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the production of colored or brightly patterned velvet.
The production of colored or brightly patterned corduroy in particular has so far been carried out in such a way that the tubular pile chain of the raw material is cut, then the pile ribs are worked out in the usual way by washing, brushing, boiling and singeing and in this state the goods are dyed or printed and through finishing up further finishing.
Compared to this process, which is extremely time-consuming, since the goods until the dyeing z. B. has to be washed and dried twice, the present invention differs in that the raw material is first subjected to the processing known in velvet production by cutting open the pile warp threads in the flat cord ribs, by washing, brushing, singeing and finishing colored or printed. As a result, colorful pattern effects can also be achieved in a simple manner by subsequent further processing, as they may otherwise only be obtained by colored weaving, with a very considerable time saving in the manufacture of the desired product being achieved.
The effect achieved by the new process is that the character of the colorfully patterned corduroy is not only better preserved, but the colored pattern itself is also more uniform and more muted due to the subsequent cutting open of the pile chain and the subsequent well-known finishing work.
