   Bis jetzt wurden Dichtungen vielfach aus Gummi oder Gummiersatzstoffen hergestellt. Auch gewebte Dichtungen aus Spinnstoffen wurden mit   Rücksicht   auf die hohen Gummipreise versuchsweise angewendet, bewähren sich aber wegen der geringen Elastizität und der ungenügenden Aufsaugefähigkeit nicht. Ferner sind geflochtene und geklöppelte Dichtungen bekannt. 



   Gegenstand der Erfindung ist eine Dichtung, die sich von den bekannten dadurch unterscheidet, dass das Textilmaterial gewirkt oder gestrickt ist. Gegenüber den in bekannter Weise hergestellten, insbesondere gegenüber den gewebten Dichtungen wird grössere Elastizität und Anschmiegsamkeit bei grosser Haltbarkeit, ferner vollständiges Ansaugen des Schmier-oder Imprägnierstoffes erzielt. 



   Dabei ist die neue Herstellungsart wesentlich billiger als die bisherigen. 



   Die neue Dichtung kann in beliebiger Querschnittsform, rund, eckig oder teilweise abgerundet, hergestellt werden.
