  Verfahren zur Identifizierung von Kunstwerken.
 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   The specified method can, with certain changes, also be applied to the investigation of the authenticity of plastic works of art. The main moments of great security in identification are as follows: 1. That no one except the examining body knows which bodies are selected for registration. 2. That several such bodies are selected for registration. 3. That it is not possible to paint a piece of canvas which, viewed microscopically in two or three places, would have exactly the same weaving properties, apart from the fact that no artist would be able to imitate the brushwork with microscopic precision and at the same time the effect of the picture in an artistic way Respect to meet.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for the identification of works of art, characterized in that a precisely determined section of the original or several such are photographed in order to record all the details of these points with regard to the structure of the image base (canvas, paper or the like) and the paint application, whereupon this photograph is compared with a photograph made under exactly the same conditions of the same parts of the work to be examined.

Claims (1)

2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the sections of the work of art are recorded after placing a template made of opaque material, the position of which is clearly determined by fixed points. 3. 3. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that the recording takes place by means of hard plates in side lighting and the positive image is also kept hard and low in tone so that the elevations are particularly sharp. 4. 4. The method according to claim l, characterized in that the slides produced from the corresponding sections of the original and of the work to be checked. a wall can be projected next to each other and compared.
