Description

Knitwear with inlays embedded as warp threads.

The subject of the invention is a knitted fabric which consists of double fabric produced on the flat knitting machine, which has inserts made of wire, yarn or the like as warp threads between the two knitted fabrics forming it.

In the drawing, FIGS. 1 and 2 illustrate a piece of broadly worked knitting machine double fabric in front view and cross section.

As is well known, knitting machine doubles are manufactured in such a way that when the sled is hung the even-numbered needles of the front row of needles work together with the odd-numbered needles of the rear row of needles, and when the sled is moving back the odd-numbered needles of the front row work together with the even-numbered needles of the back row, creating two knitted fabrics that are so close to each other that the ribs of one knitted fabric occupy the space between the ribs a1 of the other knitted fabric and the thread pieces of the two knitted fabrics that connect the ribs cross one another. The inserts b made of wire, yarn or the like are embedded between these intersections. Because the inlays lie between the two knitted fabrics, they are held in the goods and invisible.

The inherently strong and dense double fabric together with the inlays naturally has great tensile strength.

The production of the double fabric on the knitting machine also allows the use of brittle material such as paper yarn.
