Kolbendichtung.

PATEXT-AXSPRÜCHE : i.

Piston seal.
It is known. Piston seals, especially in rotary engines, made of thin-walled sheet metal, e.g. B. brass, and to give the same an L-shaped cross-section in such a way that one leg is pressed against the cylinder wall during the compression of the gas mixture and during the explosion, while the other leg is clamped in an annular recess of the piston. These thin-walled rings, which fulfill their purpose of sealing, lack the degree of rigidity that is necessary to achieve increased durability.
In order to achieve increased rigidity and the resulting increased service life of the piston
EMI1.1
which lies against the cylinder wall, a groove is provided in such a way that the part lying between the latter and the outer edge of the leg comes into contact with the cylinder wall as the actual sealing surface, while the leg part located on the other side of the groove no longer touches the cylinder wall . The wear and tear of the ring will therefore increase with
EMI1.2
respectively. In the case of the previously known L-shaped sealing rings, the entire leg facing the piston wall was so stressed. that it tore off at the bending edge even with little wear.
The invention thus enables increased stiffening, increased service life and thus permanent tightness while retaining the advantages of the previously known L-shaped piston seals.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is illustrated in longitudinal section.
EMI1.3
Cross-section is recorded. The other leg of the ring rests with its outer edge e directly on the inner surface of the cylinder and has a groove / 'on this outer sealing edge. The part g of the larger leg lying between the latter and the bending edge does not lie against the cylinder wall.
PATEXT-AX Slogans: i. Piston seal. especially for rotary engines. consisting of a thin-walled ring of L-shaped cross-section, characterized in that the leg of the ring facing the cylinder wall has a groove in order to give the ring an increased rigidity.
