Artificial leg.
The subject of the invention is an artificial leg, in particular for thigh amputee.
The essence of the invention consists in the fact that the leg, which is manufactured in a manner known per se from metal that is insensitive to impact and pressure, is adjustable in length in the thigh as well as in the lower leg and also in width in the upper part.
The drawing shows an embodiment of the invention, namely FIG. 1 shows a side view of the artificial leg according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a section according to FIG
Line A-B of FIG. 3, FIG. 3 shows a section along line C-D of FIG.
The whole leg is made of metal that is insensitive to pressure and impact and consists of several pieces, namely the thigh part 1, the knee capsule 2, the calf part 3, the
Ankle part 4 and the foot part 5 put together. Within the thigh 1 there is a multiple thin pliable metal plates 6 consisting of a capsule, which against the
The amputee's stump comes to rest. At their upper end, the metal plates 6 are connected in a suitable manner to the seat ring 7, or they consist of one with this
Piece. A fastening strap 8 lies around the upper part of the plates 6. The capsule formed from the plates 6 is surrounded by an adjusting ring 9 which can be moved up and down and secured in the set position by a screw 10 (FIG. I). .
As a result of this adjustability of the attachment capsule, the leg can be used for any stump and can also be readjusted in the event of later muscle wasting, so that the amputee can learn to walk with the artificial leg while the stump is still in the bandage.
Within the lower end of the thigh, a metal ring 11 protruding into the knee capsule 2 can be moved up and down for the purpose of lengthening or shortening the leg together with the thigh part 1; it is, after its adjustment is made, in a suitable manner, e.g. B. connected to the cap 2 by screws.
The thigh part 1 and calf part 3 carry the joint splints 13 and 14, respectively, which are connected to one another by bolts 12.
The metal ring 11 located in the knee capsule 2 and connected to the thigh part 1 has an eyelet 15 to which one end of a helical spring 16 is attached, the other end of which is hooked into an eyelet 17 of a transverse web 18 of the calf part 3. The web 18 has a hole for receiving a screw spindle 19 attached to the lower end of the ankle part 4. By adjusting the nuts 20 and 21 screwed against the web 18 above and below, the calf part 3 can be pushed more or less far over the ankle part 4 and thus a Change in length of the leg in the lower leg can be achieved.
So that the person wearing the artificial leg has a firm footing when standing, in particular when working, the ankle bolt 22 is moved somewhat forward with respect to the longitudinal axis of the ankle part 4. Near the upper end of the ankle part 4 there is an elongated round nut 24 secured by a lock nut 23 on the screw spindle 19. The latter has two bores for receiving screws 25, the free upper ends of which carry nuts 26. At the bottom, springs 27 are attached to the screws 25, which in turn are connected to the levers 28 articulated on the foot part 5. By tightening one nut and loosening the other nut 26, the tip of the foot can be raised or lowered within certain limits.

The foot part 5 is provided in a manner known per se in artificial legs with an elastic base, for example a rubber sole 29, into which air can be pumped through a suitable valve 30.
The spring 16, since it rotates around the eyelet 17 when the leg is bent, is arranged in such a way that it is bent in as soon as the leg around the pin 12 over a certain angle of flexion, approximately 50%. has become, begins to shorten, so that it is then of its usual effect
