Lippenventil.

Lip valve.
The current rubber shortage results in the need for lip valves for breathing apparatus or for other uses. other substances. The object of the invention is now a lip valve made of a flexible gas-tight rubber substitute.
It consists of two symmetrical half-pieces, suitably produced by pressing, each with a bowl-shaped and a leaf-shaped part, the transition from the former to the latter being mediated by a semi-hollow conical part. The two half-pieces are placed on top of or against each other and glued to one another at the edges of the bowls and leaves, with no gluing at the point or places where the air or gas is to pass through. In this way, a spade-shaped body with hollow leaves lying loosely on top of one another at the non-glued points is created, which allows the passage of air or gas in the manner of a lip valve.
In order to prevent such a lip valve from warping or changing its shape due to any influences in such a way that its direction is endangered at the non-glued edge points, it is preferably in the conical transition part, i.e. in the part which the cylindrical connecting part (the nozzle ) transferred into the flat leaves or lips, a more or less rigid cone-shaped hollow body is inserted, which prevents the sealing lip surfaces from warping. The conical hollow body is provided with round or slit-shaped openings which allow the air to freely flow over from the spout between the leaves or lips or after the air outlet.
The conical hollow body is expediently also provided with a cylindrical hollow part, which lies as a lining in the spout and also protects it against changes in shape.
So that the outlet lips of the valve close again immediately after the exhaled air has passed through, without the need for a receding air flow, the lips are set under the action of springs that keep the lips taut in the longitudinal direction of the outlet slot.
In the drawings, three exemplary embodiments of the lip valve are illustrated in a more schematic representation, namely, FIGS. 1 to 3 show the first, FIGS. 4 to 7 the second and FIGS. 8 and 9 the third embodiment.
To produce a valve according to FIGS. 1 and 2, two symmetrical half-pieces are first formed by pressing from a suitable rubber substitute. As shown in FIG. 3, each of these half-pieces consists of a semi-hollow cylindrical or shell-shaped part a or al, which is connected to a semi-hollow conical part b or! J1 merges into a flat or leaf-shaped part or cl. These half-pieces or halves are placed with their inner sides, which are shown in plan view in FIG. 3, on or against one another and then the edges of the bowl-shaped parts a and al and of the leaves c and ei are glued together. The edge locations that are glued together are indicated in FIG. 1 by dotted lines.
This union of the two halves creates a spade-shaped body with a hollow cylindrical-conical spout and leaves lying loosely on top of one another at the points that are not glued together. If air or gas, e.g. B. the exhaled air puff of a breathing device is passed into the spout, so this lifts the leaves from each other and escapes between the areas not glued together d

the leaf margins outwards. In the illustrated embodiment (FIG. I), two such air outlets are provided and the airways are indicated by arrows.
The production of the lip valve according to FIGS. 4 to 7 takes place in exactly the same way, except that a hollow body h, h1, preferably of the shape shown in FIG. 6 and with holes A in its conical part h, is provided in this way in the one to be united Half pieces

its cylindrical part h1 lies in the cylindrical spout a, al of the combined half-pieces and thereby protects this or the lip valve against distortion and change in shape, but allows air through the openings k access between the sheets or lips c, c1 by

Openings k lifts off.
When using the lip valve as an exhalation valve for breathing apparatus, it is of particular importance that the lip valve closes immediately after the exhaled air has passed through. For this purpose the lips, i.e. H. the edge points of the leaves c, cl that are not glued together are held taut in their longitudinal direction by suitable springs f made of metal, gut strings or the like. In Fig. 8 an embodiment of such a spring arrangement is illustrated. FIG. 9 shows the lip valve shown in FIG. 8 seen from the right in the direction of the feathered arrows.
The resilient piece of wire f placed in a loop engages with its ends bent at right angles through the bonded points of the two sheets c and Cl and is conveniently z. B. by riveting, bending o. The like. Fixed. The spring force of the pieces of wire keeps the edge points of the leaves c, cl that are not connected to one another stretched and thereby closes the air outlets of the valve or strives to close them again after air has passed through.
