Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Process to make wood more receptive to impregnating agents.

   The parent patent No. 88073 protects a process which aims to make fir wood more receptive to impregnating agents, and which consists in subjecting the wood to a pretreatment with acidic water vapors.

   It has now been shown that this method is not only suitable for the pretreatment of fir wood, but also of other types of wood, since in any case the subsequent impregnation can be carried out more easily, quickly and effectively by exposing the pores as a result of the resin release. Which impregnating agent is then used, whether aqueous salt solutions, oil-containing agents, tar oil, etc. and whether it is impregnated by pressure or by immersion, is irrelevant, because every type of impregnation is promoted by pretreating the wood with the acidic water vapors.
