Device for opening canning jars.
The preserving jars (jars and the like) that are mainly in circulation are closed airtight after heating by pressing a removable lid onto the rim of the jar, which is covered with a rubber sealing ring, due to the negative pressure in the jar. When opening the problem arises that the sealing ring, especially if it is made of bad types of rubber, tears.
This disadvantage is eliminated by the device forming the subject of the invention for opening such vessels. This device is formed using a handle, a band spanning the vessel lid and one or more wedge pieces and is characterized in that the handle is designed with two arms in the manner of a pair of pliers or scissors, the wedge piece or pieces between the vessel lid and the sealing ring in the Tighten the two handle arms penetrate, either directly linked to the latter or formed by angular bends of the tape attached to the handle arms.
The subject of the invention is illustrated in the drawing in two embodiments.
1 shows the side view of an embodiment, FIG. 2 shows a plan view of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a section along AB of FIG. 2, FIG. 4 is the side view of a second embodiment, FIG. 5 shows a plan view of FIG 4 and 6 show a section along CD of FIG. 4.
In the embodiment of FIGS. I to 3, two lever arms a, b are articulated with a wedge c. On each of the two arms a, b, the end of an annularly curved B. andes d, which is expediently made of resilient steel, engages. To open the preserving vessel e, the wedge c is placed in the manner shown in FIGS. I and 3 on the protruding edge of the sealing ring and at the same time the band d is pushed over the closure cover g.
If one now approaches the free ends of the two lever arms a, b, the band d presses against the circumference of the cover g; the wedge c penetrates with its edge facing the vessel lid into the joint between the lid and the sealing ring and enables this
Entry of air bubbles into the interior of the vessel, as a result of which the internal pressure in the vessel quickly equilibrates with the external pressure of the surroundings, so that the lid can be lifted off immediately.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 4 to 6, two sickle-like wedges h, h ′ are arranged instead of a single wedge piece c. The same are combined into a single piece in that they are arranged on the lower edge of the resilient band à. The suspension of this band d is made possible by the brook part d 'which remains between the wedge pieces h. In this embodiment, the ends of the ring d are attached to two arms a, b articulated together like scissors. In the arrangement of FIGS. 4 to 6, in addition to the band d surrounding the vessel lid, two angular supports i are attached to the ends of the arms a, b, which, as can be seen in particular from FIG. 4, grip over the vessel lid.
The handling of this embodiment takes place essentially in the same way as that of the arrangement according to FIGS. 1 to 3. The sickle-shaped wedge pieces h, h 'are brought to rest on the protruding edge of the sealing ring; the band d carrying these wedge pieces here encompasses the vessel lid, while the angle pieces i grip over the vessel lid. If the two handles a, b are brought closer to one another, the band d spans

the vessel lid, the wedge pieces A, h 'grip into the joint between. the edge of the lid and the sealing ring (see Fig. 6) so that the gradual influx of air bubbles causes the pressure to equalize:
The angular supports i can also be used in the same way in the arrangement in FIGS.
Likewise, in the arrangement of FIGS. 1 to 3, instead of the arms a, b engaging the wedge like a tong, the scissors shape of FIGS. Furthermore, in the arrangement of FIGS. I to 3, instead of a wedge piece c, a double or multiple arrangement thereof can be selected, e.g. B. such that a second wedge piece is arranged opposite the wedge c on the band d.
The length of the band d can be made adjustable in the various embodiments in order to adapt it to the size of the canning jars available in each case.
For this purpose, one end of the tape is expediently equipped with a number of openings.
EMI2.1
knife of the tape is enlarged or reduced.
The adjustment of the tape length is also possible in that the tape consists of two parts and that the adjustment device consisting of openings and projections is arranged on the free tape ends facing each other.
