Bandsaw filing machine.
EMI1.1
in which both edges of a tooth gap are filed at the same time by the same file, and consists in a new combination for the switching device of the saw, by which the simplest possible construction is achieved. that the saw is switched by means of the file itself in the direction in which it moves while working, with the chest edge being filed first and the back edge of the tooth only on the following working stroke, which. As is well known, sharpening results in better sharpening than the other way around.

namely show:
1 and 2 side views of the machine from two opposite sides, partly in section;
Fig. 3 is a front view;
Fig. 4 is a top view of the same;
Figs. 5 to 10 show details.
The band saw a to be filed is held between two jaws b and c (Fig. I. G, g and 6), of which one, c, is fixed and connected to the frame G of the machine, while the other, b. is arranged movable and removable. These. is supported at the bottom against a nose d (Fig. 5) of the base plate e of the frame G, while its position relative to the jaw c is determined by two projections fund g of the latter. A spring A presses the movable jaw against the fixed jaw.
A roller i mounted between the jaws b and c serves as a support for the saw blade and sits on a screw spindle k, the latter being displaceably but not rotatably mounted between the two jaws. By turning the non-displaceable nut / the roller i can accordingly be changed in its height position and its position can be adapted to different saw blade widths.
The movable jaw b is provided with a side arm m, which is against the one
EMI1.3
is led. The wedge r sits on the free end of a resilient rod n. The other end of which is attached to a rocker p rotatable about the pin o (FIGS. 2 and 4). The bent upper end of the latter is under the influence of a cam disk S, against which it is pressed by a spring q -.
The file F is arranged in a rocker arm (Fig. L 2. 8 and 9), which is hinged to a slide v so that it can rotate about the pin it. The tang of the file sits in a sleeve w that can be removed together with the file. while the front end is held by an exchangeable chuck s, the inner cross-section of which is adapted to the cross-section of the file. Bushing 10 and chuck x can be fixed in a certain position using hand screws.
Once the chuck x has been set, the file comes into the correct working position without further ado, even if it is pulled out of the chuck and rotated around its axis in order to swap the working surfaces,
The rocker arm t is designed as a two-armed lever, the rear arm y of which is under the action of the cam S already mentioned. the periphery of which is controlled by the influence of the springs z, which depress the front end of the lever. is pressed against.
The tension of the springs s can be regulated by means of the screws 1.
The pivot pins 1t of the file holder are lower. than the lower edge of the file ever comes to rest. so that they are below the teeth of the saw blade to be filed.
The slide v, on which the file arm t is placed, is arranged on the frame 2 so that it can slide back and forth and is connected to the disk S by means of the link 3 and the sliding block 4. The frame 2 is suspended in a pendulous manner on the pin 5 and rests with a nose 6 on its rear side (FIGS. 1 and 4) against an axial cam of the cam S, to which it is attracted by the spring 7.
EMI1.4
can be set in rotation. This disk, which is shown in FIG. 7, initially has a crank pin 10, on which the sliding block 4 sits, for the reciprocating movement of the file slide v.
On the back of the disc there is an axial cam 11,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
by which the rocker p is influenced to move the filing jaws. On the front of the disk there is also an axial cam 12, which rests against the nose 6
EMI2.1
The machine works as follows:
In the right-hand dead center position of the Kurd! 10 (seen from the front of the machine) and thus the file, it is in its lowest position, and the springs z press it into the tooth gap. At the same time, the oscillating frame 2 with the slide v is in the rearward position caused by the contact of the nose 6 on the side surface of the disk S.
The filing jaws b and c are closed and thus that
EMI2.2
Arrows in Fig. 3 and 7) rotated, the file completes its working stroke in that it simultaneously processes both delimiting flanks of the tooth gap in question, i.e. the back edge of one tooth and the chest edge of the following tooth. As soon as the radial cam 13 begins to run up on the rear arm y of the file rocker t, which is the case shortly before the left dead center position. this lever arm is pressed down and the file is lifted off the saw.
As a result of the position of the pivot u of the rocker arm, the file moves away from the tooth tip so that it is not damaged (Fig. 10). In close proximity to the
EMI2.3
the switching direction of the saw backwards) and the file, going over the next tooth tip, comes to a stop over the next tooth gap. From this position the file now begins to return, and at the same time, without first touching the tooth itself, slowly sinks into the tooth gap in accordance with the drop in the radial curve 13. This lowering comes to an end near the right-hand dead center.
(Instead of this gradual lowering, the file can also be held up to the end of the return stroke and then suddenly lowered.) Now the cam 11 located on the back of the disk S begins against the upper end of the rocker p.
EMI2.4
along the fixed stop s and is pushed by this to the right (FIG. 5), taking along the arm m of the movable filing hoe b. This opens the filing jaw by rotating around its lower horizontal edge, since the nose d of the base plate e prevents it from moving.
Immediately after the filing jaw b has opened, the curve 12 ah lowers, so that the frame 2 together with the slide and file through
EMI2.5
but the filing jaws are still open, the saw blade is also pulled along by the file due to the downward pull exerted on the tooth back. whereby the same is indexed by one tooth. In dead center where the file comes back
EMI2.6
the jaw is closed again by the action of the springs q and h, so that the game can start again with a new working stroke.
EMI2.7
moves the blade while sawing, d. H. the cutting (breast) edge (17, Fig. 10) runs first.
Since the file jaws are open during switching and the switching pressure of the file against the saw is directed obliquely downwards due to the position of the pivot u below the teeth, it is prevented that when the oscillating frame 2 and the file go back they simply over the incline Back edge of the tooth goes back without taking it with you. However, as is well known, switching in the direction of the movement of the saw results in a significantly better sharpening of the latter, in that with each tooth the front edge, chest edge, 77, and only the back edge with the following file strike.
M. is sharpened, as a result of which it is achieved that the ridge that forms at the tip of the tooth during filing (the so-called thread is directed forward.
EMI2.8
the relevant technical term is "the saw has no poison". Obtaining this forward-facing ridge is therefore essential for the cutting action of the saw, and to achieve this in a simple manner is the purpose of the present combination of the movement devices the switching of the saw in the working direction is done by the file itself.

tooth flank 17 in front of it a certain distance when lowering the file, which would remain. if the file were only swung back to the working position.
so that the file would not catch this flank on the working stroke. In that the file and the saw blade initially go back a little further, but when proceeding again, it no longer takes the saw blade with it until it hits the tooth in front of it again,
EMI3.2
The spring 7 can be unhooked at its rear end, whereupon the oscillating frame: 2 together with the slide and file can be folded forward in order to expose the parts behind and below and to make them accessible.
The saw can of course be built for power operation instead of manual operation, e.g. B. with l'est and loose disk. or with a releasable clutch.
The frame-shaped. Formation of the moving parts 2 and v allows easy mobility of the same and therefore low effort for the machine.
PATENT CLAIMS: i. Bandsaw filing machine, in which both edges of a tooth gap are filed simultaneously with the same file, characterized in that the slide (v) used for the working movement of the file is guided in a pendulum frame (2) which is located on a transverse to the switching path of the saw Axis is suspended in such a way that it can swing backwards and forwards in relation to this path. and that this pendulum frame with a file holder,
which is hinged up and down for the purpose of the infeed movement for the file on the said carriage about an axis parallel to the file axis and below the path of the saw teeth, with a controlled clip for holding the saw blade and with the movement means for all parts in such an operative connection it says that after the file has been lifted out of the toothing at the end of its working stroke, the frame (2) including the slide and file swung back against the switching direction of the saw, and after the file has sunk into the following tooth gap during the return stroke of the file. at the end of this return stroke, when the clip is open, the saw is swung forward again and the saw is slanted through the

shifts forward.
