Fig. 2 zeigt die Stirnansicht, Fig. 3 eine Draufsicht.

Sorting drum for potatoes.
For sorting potatoes and similar products, sorting drums are used, if a higher output is required than the known flat sieves provide, sorting drums with several chambers and chutes that transfer from one chamber to the other are known, rich in their design of the one shown in Fig. 6 correspond to the device schematically indicated in the drawing, several overflow nongues having been provided if necessary; therefore the arrangement of several slides should not be claimed as new. The new idea of the invention lies rather in the division of some inclined slides and the arrangement of guide plates between these darchteilten slides.
With this device, the potatoes should, if several streams of potatoes enter the same chamber around the circumference, be guided in such a way that each potato, if it does not fall through the sieve mesh, rolls once over the entire circumference of the drum.
In the drawing, Fig. 1 shows a vertical section through the sieve drum.
Fig. 2 shows the end view, Fig. 3 shows a plan view. Fig. 4 shows a section according to r- in Fig. 6. Fig. 5 shows the known design and Figs. 6 and 7 show various embodiments of the innovation, in a schematic representation of a development of the drum shell.

inclined slides; they correspond to the slides in the schematic drawing in FIG. 5.
The chutes are straight metal sheets, which are on the cylinder jacket, a) so perpendicular to the sieves, but have such a slope to the axis that the potatoes, which are first taken up, automatically move from one chamber to the others slide. In Fig. 2, o, corresponding to Fig. 5, denotes the

In Fig. 4, t and u are the two holes in the annular partition./ ', in front of which the two chutes 11 and 1 are located. 7 in particular shows the idea of the invention very clearly through the arrow directions for the potato movement. At the end wall from p, the potatoes enter the antechamber b and are removed here by four chutes and brought into chamber c; Two more streams pass through this chamber separately until they merge into one stream in chamber d at q and finally the potatoes that have not fallen through the sieve mesh of the chambers leave the cylinder at o.
Since the potatoes become fewer and fewer on their way through the cylinder as a result of the sieving, it is also justified to bring the streams of potatoes together more and more after the end of the working process, until finally the thickest potatoes reach the cylinder only at one point during one revolution leave. Because the potatoes are removed from the antechamber twice in FIG. 6 and even four times in FIG. 7, the output of the machine is doubled or quadrupled.
