Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Electromagnet for medical treatment of parts of the body.

   The electromagnets previously used for medical purposes were excited either with constant direct current or with alternating current at a relatively high frequency, so that it was not possible to slowly exert force effects on a magnetically influenceable body, such as those used, for example, to massage internal organs filled with magnetically influenced material required are. According to the invention, this is achieved by combining the electromagnet with a current regulator which periodically changes the strength of the current in the magnet winding at a controllable speed.

   In the drawing, an embodiment of the invention is shown, namely in Fig. 1 the electromagnet and the current regulator in side view and in Fig. 2 the circuitry of the latter.

   The direct or alternating current network? is connected to the electromagnet e via the controller c and the current regulator d. In the current regulator resting on the frame 9 there is a series of resistors! ss and on the cover plate f a number of circularly arranged contact pins s, which are connected to the resistors w in such a way that from two contact pins symmetrically located on the circle to a certain diameter, lines lead to the junction of two resistors and that the successive pairs of contact pins are in connection with the successive union of the resistances.

   The first contact pin is connected to the end of the first, the last contact pin to the end of the last resistor.A line leads from one of these two pins to the electromagnet e, from which two contact pins each slide over the contact pins s and rotate around the axis a3 covering contact member k another to the network n.

   The drive of the contact element takes place from the motor m by a speed change gear, z. B. as shown, by a wheel friction clutch r1, r2, the shaft a2 and the belt drive g, i. The current regulator k switches on all resistors 10 at half a revolution and off again at the next half revolution, so that the undulation of the direct current in the apparatus shown has an approximately sinusoidal shape.
