Furniture groups formed by assembling individual elements are known.
The present invention now relates to seating that can be converted into one (or more) reclining furniture. This convertible reclining furniture differs from the known versions in that it consists of a core with a polygonal cross-section (which serves as head, arm or neck support) and a jacket (which serves as a lying surface) (see FIGURES 1) , The core and jacket are subsequently referred to as an element in a compact state (see FIGURES 2). The number of shell parts is variable. The shell parts nestle against each other without gaps, or on the core.
One or more elements form the seating furniture (FIGURES 3). The elements can be held together by Velcro, plug connections or a base frame. When using a base frame, it makes sense to give it a function even when using the elements as reclining furniture, e.g. as a table or stool (FIGURES 4). The object of the invention is that generic elements can be further developed without undue constructive effort such that several different pieces of seating furniture can be assembled with just a few elements.
Detailed description:
Depending on the version, the seating consists of one or any number of elements. The more elements are used, the bigger the seating furniture. The elements can be lined up to create a seating or lying surface, as well as stacked, to save space, or to give the seating furniture a head, arm or back support.
The arrangement and number of elements determine the size and shape of the seating. Due to the simple geometric shape of the elements, they nestle together and provide a good hold, which is supported by the connection options described above.
The elements consist of natural or artificial materials, e.g. B. made of latex foam, foam, synthetic foam, cotton or air-filled rubber sleeves.
The invention has set itself the goal of creating furniture of the type described above, in which:. Seating becomes a piece of reclining furniture as quickly and easily as possible.
, Seating becomes at least one bed surface.
, A cheap production is possible.
Both a comfortable sitting position and a comfortable lying position is created.
, A variety of shape options arise, depending on the number of bodies used and their shape.
Some exemplary embodiments are shown schematically in the drawings and are explained in more detail below.
FIGURE 5: shows seating with a backrest, which consists of 6 elements. The individual elements are identical in construction and therefore interchangeable. They are held together without a gap by a base frame, and a plate is attached to the base frame to fix the elements of the backrest. If necessary, the plate is lowered in the base frame to enable the base frame to be used as a table. In order to make a table out of the base plate, the elements must be removed and the frame turned over, i. that is, the base plate becomes a table top.
In this example, an element consists of a core, the cross-sectional area of which is equilateral and triangular, and a jacket, which in this case consists of three parts, which completely and without enveloping the core. In this example, as in all other cases, the core and the individual elements are connected to one another like a hinge. The angles between the individual jacket parts must be complemented by their reference angle to 180 degrees (see labeling). The length of the side of a jacket part (in the lying position) corresponds to the length of the side to which it fits snugly in a compact state (see labeling). The length of the parallel side of a jacket part, however, depends on the material thickness of the jacket parts. The length of the elements gives the width of the seat and lying surface (see lettering).

Stool or shelf.
In this example, an element consists of a core, the cross-sectional area of which is equilateral and triangular, and a jacket, which in this case also consists of three parts. The jacket could also be formed in two or more parts, depending on the desired length of the lying surface. In this example, the three jacket parts are arranged on one side of the core and folded like a hinge. This creates a closed lying surface without free space when used as a bed. The angles of the shell parts complement each other to 180 degrees and result from the angles of the core (see labeling).
FIGURE 7: shows seating consisting of five elements. The individual elements are identical in construction and therefore interchangeable. They are held together without a gap by a plug-in system. In this case, a connection is always made from the center of the triangle of one element to the center of another element. An even greater variety of shapes is made possible by a plug connection. Individual elements can be removed or added (in different orientations). In this example, it makes sense to use elements in which the core is encased.
FIGURE 8: shows seating that consists of one element. The cross-sectional area of the element can be square or rectangular. It is held together by a Velcro fastener. Standing it is a high seating area, similar to a bar stool, lying down it is a simple seating area. The core of the element can be divided diagonally, dividing the cross-sectional area into two folding triangles. This ensures an optimal shoulder or head position.
In this example, the element consists of a core, the cross-sectional area of which is square or rectangular, and a cladding, which in this case consists of four parts, which completely and without gap envelop the core. The core and the individual elements are connected to each other like a hinge. The angles between the jacket parts are 90 degrees. Even in the case of elements with a square or rectangular cross-section, the length of the side of a jacket part (when lying down) corresponds to the length of the side to which it fits snugly in a compact state (see labeling). The length of the parallel side of a jacket part, however, depends on the material thickness of the jacket parts. The length of the elements gives the width of the seat and lying surface (see lettering).
FIGURE 9: shows seating with a backrest, which consists of four elements. The individual elements are identical in construction and therefore interchangeable. The cross-sectional area of the elements can be square or rectangular. In this example of an embodiment, it should be pointed out that elements can be used by solid bodies, in the form of one or more elements, as desired. Of course, this applies to all shapes and application examples. The elements are held together without a gap by a base frame. Here too, the base frame can be turned into a table top, stool or shelf.
In this example, the element consists of a core, the cross-sectional area of which is square or rectangular, and a jacket, which in this case consists of four parts, which completely and without gap envelop the core. The core and the individual jacket parts are connected to one another in a hinge-like manner.
FIGURE 10: shows seating with a backrest, which consists of three elements. The individual elements are identical in construction and therefore interchangeable. The cross-sectional area of the elements is a trapezoid. The jacket can be attached around the core, or increase its cross-sectional area on one side by individual jacket parts. The elements are held together by plug connections without a gap. In this example it is

Element consisting of a core, the cross-sectional area of which is a trapezoid, and a jacket, which in this case consists of four parts, which completely and without gap envelop the core. The core and the individual jacket parts are connected to one another in a hinge-like manner.
The length of the side of a jacket part (in the lying state) corresponds to the length of the side to which it fits snugly in a compact state. The length of the parallel side of a jacket part, however, depends on the material thickness of the jacket parts.
It is pointed out that the examples represent only part of the possibilities of this invention, since there are considerably more possible variations, among other things also by combining different cross-sectional shapes. There is also the option of designing seating or reclining furniture with irregular cross-sectional shapes of the elements.
EXPECTATIONS :
1. Convertible seating, characterized in that it consists of detachably connectable elements, each element consisting of a core and a jacket (Fig. 1) and the individual elements form a piece of furniture in the opened state and a piece of furniture in the folded state.
