Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

    Verwendung von schwer- oder unlöslichen Fettseifen als Zusatz zur Leimung von Papieren für photographische Zwecke.
 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

   If you want to apply this glue to finished products, be it on glued or unsized, or if you intend to add such glue to the bar days, z. B. a fairly concentrated gelatin solution assigned the fatty soap with the appropriate chlorine salt and using alum this fatty soap in heavy or. insoluble form. If phosphoric acid salts are added to the fatty soap, however, instead of potassium alum, calcium salt or at the same time potassium salt and potassium alum are added, whereby the phosphoric acid salt and the fatty soap become insoluble.

   However, one can also add potash clay alum directly to a fairly concentrated gelatin solution, then gel the fatty soap to the gelatin solution without any addition of chlorine and finally make the fatty soap insoluble with potassium salt.

   In the above-mentioned processes, the soluble products in the finished gelatin fat soap mixture can be removed by brief washing after the mixture has solidified.

   If raw paper is treated with such a preparation, it is possible to emulsify this paper without further baryages or only with very thin baryages, without the metal particles possibly contained in the paper reacting with the emulsion to be applied to the paper.

   It is already known to add small amounts of soluble soaps to certain emulsions to promote even flow on glass or paper. On the other hand, the above method involves the use of insoluble or sparingly soluble fatty soaps, which, as explained, aim and achieve a significantly different effect.

PATENT CLAIM: Use of sparingly or insoluble fatty soaps, optionally with the addition of compounds which are able to convert soluble silver salts into insoluble form, as an additive for sizing papers for photographic purposes in the fiber (Hollander sizing) and in or on the finished product.
