Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Trübungsmittels für welsse Emaillen.
Gegenstand der Erfindung bezieht sich auf die Herstellung weisser Emaillen. Die Erfindung bezweckt die Verwendung der Oxyde und gegebenenfalls der Silikate des Zirkoniums, Titans, Aluminiums und dgl. und auch des Zinns (mit Ausnahme des durch Verbrennung von metallischem Zinn erhaltenen Zinnoxydes). Diese Oxyde und Silikate, welche in ihrer normalen Form die für die Deckfähigkeit erforderlichen physikalischen Eigenschaften nicht besitzen, werden der Erfindung gemäss als Trübungsmittel dadurch geeignet gemacht, dass sie in eine sehr feine Form gebracht und mit angesäuertem oder alkalisch gemachtem Wasser angeätzt werden. Durch die Adsorption von Alkali bzw. Säure werden sie wasserbindend. Eine Kolloidbildung in Solform kann durch Gegenwart von geringen Mengen von Kristalloiden vermieden werden.
Das Anätzen durch saure oder alkalische Lösungen kann durch die Gegenwart von Ton begünstigt worden.
Bei Ausführung des Verfahrens wird das oxydische oder kieselsäurehättige Trübungs- mittel auf einer Mühle unter Anwesenheit von alkalisch gemachtem oder angesäuertem Wasser und gegebenenfalls unter Zusatz geringer Mengen von Salzen, wie Metallsalzen, 80lang gemahlen, bis es durch die Einwirkung der sauren oder alkalischen Flussigkoit angeätzt bzw. bis Säure bzw. Alkali gebunden wird.
Bei Ausführung des Verfahrens zur Herstellung des Emails könnte gegebenenfalls das Vermahlen der Oxyde bzw. Silikate auch auf der Mühle mit dem Emailsatz zugleich bewirkt und zur Anätzung eine verdünnte Alkali- oder Säurelösung angewendet werden. Dieser Weg erscheint jedoch nicht zweckmässig, da der Emaitsatz erfahrungsgemäss nicht über eine bestimmte Feinheit und nicht zulange gemahlen werden soll, was aber bei einem Mitvermahlen des Trübungemittels erforderlich ist.
PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE :
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Trübungsmittel für weisse Emaillen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die als Trübungsmittel geeigneten Oxyde oder Silikate durch Vermahlen in feine Form gebracht und durch schwache Alkali- oder Säurelösungen angeätzt werden.

The invention relates to the manufacture of white enamels. The invention aims at the use of oxides and optionally silicates of zirconium, titanium, aluminum and the like, and also of tin (with the exception of tin oxide obtained by combustion of metallic tin). These oxides and silicates, which in their normal form do not have the physical properties required for hiding power, are made suitable as opacifiers according to the invention in that they are brought into a very fine form and etched with acidified or alkaline water. They become water-binding through the adsorption of alkali or acid. Colloid formation in sol form can be avoided by the presence of small amounts of crystalloids.
Etching by acidic or alkaline solutions can be favored by the presence of clay.
When carrying out the process, the oxidic or silicic acid-saturated opacifier is ground on a mill in the presence of alkalized or acidified water and, if necessary, with the addition of small amounts of salts, such as metal salts, until it is etched or etched by the action of the acidic or alkaline liquid until acid or alkali is bound.
When carrying out the process for producing the enamel, the grinding of the oxides or silicates could also be carried out on the mill with the enamel set at the same time and a dilute alkali or acid solution could be used for etching. However, this approach does not appear expedient, since experience has shown that the Emaitsatz should not be ground to a certain fineness and not too long, which is necessary when the opacifying agent is co-ground.
