<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to a handle for sticks, which are used for example when skiing or hiking. Such handles are equipped with a loop which makes it easier to use the stick, which is gripped by hand on the handle, and improves the use of the stick
In the case of known sticks, the handle in one embodiment consists entirely of compact plastic and is placed over the upper end of the cane tube and fixed there, the ends of the loop being fixed on the handle.
In a known embodiment, fastening screws are screwed into the handle from above, essentially coaxially to the cane tube, in order to fix the loop on the handle. In another known embodiment, the ends of the strip forming the loop are inserted into a recess of the handle which is open to the side, and then fixed. For this purpose, an embodiment is known in which a clamping part is formed on one end of the band or strip forming the loop, which is inserted into the recess in the head of the handle, the ends of the strip forming the loop being placed around a pin which extends transversely through the head of the handle.
A disadvantage of these known embodiments is that the loop is fastened to the handle and not directly to the cane tube. The handle must therefore be of a correspondingly firm design.
In recent times, handle-friendly materials, such as plastic foam or natural cork, have been used for handles for sticks. The problem with these materials is that, due to the low strength of the handle-friendly materials, it is not possible to attach the loop directly to the handle. An embodiment is therefore known in which the head of the handle to which the loop is attached is a separate molded part made of compact plastic, and only the part of the handle located below the head is made of easy-to-grip material (synthetic foam or natural cork) The result of this embodiment is that the handle consists of at least two parts, namely the head and the actual handle part located underneath.
This complicates not only the manufacture, but also the storage and finally the manufacture of sticks, since several operations are required to assemble the handle. In addition, after the head of compact material is attached to the pole tube, the actual handle part made of material that is easier to grip must be pushed over the entire pole tube from below until it rests on the head of the handle, which is attached to the upper end of the pole tube Another disadvantage of this embodiment is that there is a joint between the head of the handle and the actual handle part, which increases the risk of destruction or damage to the handle and also forms a location in which dirt can accumulate.
The invention has for its object to propose a handle that can consist entirely of easy-grip material.
This task is solved primarily with a handle that has the features of the claim

Preferred and advantageous embodiments of the handle according to the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
Since a device (holding part) is provided in the handle according to the invention, which is used to fasten the loop to the pole and is arranged inside the handle, the handle itself is not used to fasten the loop, so that no forces are exerted on the handle by the loop act. Therefore, the handle can be made entirely of handle-friendly material, which not only improves the comfort when using the stick but also saves weight, since handle-friendly materials are lighter than the compact plastics previously used for the head of the handle.
It is of considerable advantage in the handle according to the invention that a holding part is now provided for fastening the loop, which is separate from the outer, preferably one-piece, handle part and is attached to the cane tube. For example, a material can be selected for the handle that is "easy to grip", whereas a material with the necessary strength properties can be selected independently for the holding part.
In the invention, the handle can be made in one piece from handle-friendly material, so that the disadvantages of two-piece handles can be avoided.
In addition, the handle according to the invention can be more easily attached to the cane tube since it can now be pushed onto the cane tube from the "upper" end of the cane, since the device for attaching the loop is accommodated entirely inside the handle, and can be designed in such a way that that it does not protrude beyond the outer circumference of the cane tube, for example the same diameter as this. Of course, this does not rule out the fact that the handle itself and / or several parts or sections of the handle, for example those which increase the length of the handle, are also pushed onto the pole from below.
In one embodiment of the handle according to the invention, the holding part for fixing the loop is attached to the upper end of the stick, and the handle made of easy-to-grip material is then pushed over the upper end of the stick tube provided with the holding part.
Then the loop is connected to the handle in a conventional manner, either by screwing a screw into the holding part coaxially to the axis of the cane tube, or else the type of attachment of the loop is achieved with a pin that crosses the handle and U-shaped ends of the strip forming the loop and with a clamping part formed on one end
It can be seen that, in the embodiment according to the invention, the ends of the loop are attached to the holding part which is directly attached to the cane tube, so that the handle itself is not loaded and can be made from a correspondingly light and easy-to-grip material.
Further details, features and advantages of the invention result from the

standing description of preferred embodiments with reference to the drawings.
1 shows a known handle for sticks in a two-part embodiment in axial section, FIG. 2 shows in axial section a first embodiment of a handle according to the invention, FIG. 3 shows a second embodiment of a handle according to the invention, FIGS. 4a and 4b show the embodiment 3 holding part used for the loop in two different views and Fig. 4c shows a section along the line AA in Fig. 4b.
The known handle 1 shown in FIG. 1 consists of two parts, namely a head part 2 and a handle part 3. The head part 2 is inserted with a sleeve-shaped extension 4 over the upper end of the tube 5.
The head part 2 of the handle 1 is made of solid, compact material, in particular solid plastic, and is used to attach a loop 6 to the handle 1. For this purpose, a clamping part 8 is formed on one end of the strip 7 forming the loop 6. Both ends of the strip 7 are guided around a pin 9 inserted through the head part 2 of the handle 1.
For this purpose, the ends of the strip 7 are bent into a U-shape and inserted into the recess 10 of the head part 2, and then the pin 9 is inserted into the head part 2 through corresponding bores. Thus, the strip 7 forming the loop 6 is attached to the handle 1, and the length of the loop 6 can be changed in a known manner.
To assemble the handle 1, the head part 2 is first placed over the upper end of the pole tube 5 and fastened there in any manner if it is not possible to find what is needed with a press fit. The handle part 3 of the handle 1 is pushed over the cane 5 from the other (lower) end and fixed, for example, by gluing. For this purpose, it is necessary that the grip part 3 is first coated on the inside with lubricious substance so that it can be pushed over the cane 5 into the area of the adhesive layer
Notwithstanding this, the pushing on of the handle part 3 is an activity which is complex and requires increased attention, because the handle part 3 generally consists of a material that is easy to grip, such as synthetic foam, rubber foam, natural cork or natural cork granulate bound with a binder.
In the first embodiment of the handle according to the invention shown in FIG. 2, the handle 1 is made entirely and in one piece from handle-friendly material. An opening 10 is provided in the handle 1 in the section of its upper end, through which the ends of the strip 7 forming the loop 6 are guided.
A cylindrical holding part 12 is pressed into the upper end of the cane 5 so that its longitudinal section 13 with a smaller diameter is received in the inside of the cane 5, and the shoulder 14 is seated at the upper end of the section 13 at the upper end of the cane 5. A bore 15 is provided in the upper section of the hat part 12 projecting beyond the cane 5, into which a screw 16 can be screwed in after it has passed through a corresponding hole 17 in the upper section of the handle 1 and through holes
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
both ends of the strip 7 forming the loop 6 has been inserted. The loop 6 is fastened to the cane 5 without the handle 1 itself being affected.
It is therefore possible to manufacture handle 1 entirely from one of the above-mentioned materials that are easy to grip. The assembly of the handle 1 is also simplified in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, since it can be pushed onto the cane tube 5 in its entirety simply from the upper end thereof.
In order to change the size of the loop 6 in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, an adjusting element 18 is provided in the strip 7 forming the loop 6.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 a, b and c, a holding part 20 for the loop 6 is provided in the interior of the handle 1 formed in one piece as in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2 of the handle according to the invention.
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the holding part 20, which can be made of plastic, for example, is inserted with a sleeve-shaped extension 21 over the upper end of the tube 5, so that it is arranged there with a press fit. In the part 22 of the holding part 20 located above the cane tube 5 and the sleeve-shaped extension 21, a recess 23 is provided, which is delimited by two side walls 25 and above by a transverse web 26 and below by an intermediate floor 27. The intermediate floor 27 also limits how far the holding part 21 can be pushed onto the upper end of a tube 5. Holes 24 are provided in the walls 25, through which the pin 9 already described with reference to FIG. 1 can be inserted, as is also shown in FIG. 3.
The ends of the strip 7 forming the loop 6 are bent into a U-shape, pushed through the recess 10 into the space 23 in the holding part 20, and then the pin 9 is fitted in the holes 24, whereby the loop 6 is fastened to the holding part 20.
It can be seen that, in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the holding part is arranged entirely in the interior of the handle 1, and is used to fasten the loop 6 without the handle 1 itself being used to fasten the loop 6 ,
It should also be pointed out that, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, the holding part 12 with its lower part 13 can also be pushed over the stick tube 5 instead of being pushed into the stick tube 5, similarly to the case in the case of the sleeve-shaped extension 21 of the holding part 20 of FIG Fig. 3 is the case. Analogously, the holding part 20 can also be pushed into the interior of the cane 5 with its lower extension.
For handle 1, all materials that are "easy to grip" come into question, including foam plastics, foam rubbers, natural cork, synthetic cork and composite materials, such as cork granulate bonded with a binder (synthetic resin)
In summary, an embodiment of the invention can be described as follows:
A handle 1 for sticks with a loop 6 consists entirely of easy-to-grip material, such as
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Synthetic foam and has a holding part 20 exclusively attached to the cane 5 for fixing the strip 7 forming the loop 6.
Thus, the loop 6 can be attached to the cane 5 without the handle 1 itself being used for attaching the loop 6, which allows it to be made from easy-to-grip material, and there is no risk that the handle 1 will pass from the loop 6 onto it forces are damaged.
