<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
Spritzgussverfahren an (Fig. 6).
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
verlaufenden Nut 12 angeordnet.

The invention relates to a winding spool for windable materials, in particular for
Winding up cigarette or filter paper on which a data carrier, preferably in the form of a chip, is arranged.
Winding spools have been known for a long time and are used, for example, for winding wire, electrical cables or the like. Especially in the
However, cigarette production has shown that conventional winding spools on which the cigarette or filter paper is wound meet the requirements of modern ones
Logistics don't do it justice. For example, the cigarette manufacturer was unable to establish a relationship between the winding spool and the material wound thereon or to check whether the winding spool he made available to the cigarette paper manufacturer was actually provided with the corresponding cigarette paper.
To solve this problem, it is also known to provide the winding spool with the wound material with a data carrier. The information carriers, which are usually designed as disposable data carriers, are attached to the outer peripheral surface of the wound material or the winding spool.
It has been found to be disadvantageous in this prior art that such data carriers attached to the outer circumferential surface of the wound material can only be used for one transport route, for example from the cigarette paper manufacturer to the cigarette manufacturer. Furthermore, due to its exposed arrangement on the outer circumferential surface of the wound material or the winding spool, the data carrier is hardly protected, which is why damage or even loss of the data carrier can occur relatively easily.
The object of the invention is to provide a novel winding spool which avoids the disadvantages mentioned and enables logistical management of the winding spool together with the materials wound thereon.
This is achieved according to the invention in that the data carrier, which is designed for the contactless transmission of data specifying the winding spool and / or the wound material, is at least partially arranged in the wall of the preferably hollow cylindrical winding spool. The transmission of data specifying the winding spool and / or the wound material and the associated automation can
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
contribute significantly to the reduction of production costs, according to a preferred
According to an embodiment, the data carrier preferably has encrypted winding-specific data and / or material-specific data, for example a unique ID number, and a printed, wound or etched antenna.
Due to the at least partial arrangement of the data carrier in the wall of the winding spool, the data carrier is largely protected from external influences, which of course extends its service life. This arrangement can be carried out particularly simply if the wall of the winding spool has a preferably prefabricated recess, the data carrier being arranged in this recess.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the data carrier is on all sides
Enclosed material of the winding spool, which provides an even better protection of the data carrier. According to an embodiment variant of the invention, this is achieved when the
Coil is formed in several parts and at least a part of the winding coil
Has recess that of a second part of the winding spool to form a
Cavity in which the data carrier is arranged is closed.
In the event that the winding spools are intended for repeated use, it has proven to be advantageous if they are made of plastic. A preferred embodiment provides for the data carrier to be poured into the wall of the winding spool, which results in a particularly good protection of the data carrier in addition to a simple manufacturing process. In principle, however, it is also possible to manufacture the winding spool from paper or cardboard.
In order to improve the transmission and reception properties of the data carrier, it can be provided according to a further aspect of the invention that the antenna of the data carrier is guided around the winding spool in a ring-shaped manner, preferably on the outside. In order to prevent the antenna from slipping or being damaged during the winding process, a preferred embodiment of the invention provides for this to be arranged in a groove running around the winding spool.
Furthermore, a manipulation system for winding spools is to be specified, the manipulation system comprising a transmitting / receiving unit for receiving the data stored on the data carrier or for writing to the data carrier, and the transmitting / receiving unit for activating the data carrier, preferably by means of a

an antenna transmitted signal is formed. This eliminates the use of in
Passive data carriers in terms of their power supply, so that a permanent
Sending the information on the disk can be avoided.
If, as a further embodiment of the invention provides, the received data from the transceiver unit via a data line and / or wireless one
Reading unit and subsequently transmitted to a memory and / or processing device, it is possible to query product data directly from the data carrier without a connection to a database and without a network.
Another embodiment of the invention provides that a memory and / or
Processing device which is designed to write to the data carrier by means of the transmitting / receiving unit. This makes it very easy to create one
Provide reusable winding spool, whose data carrier always has the most current
Database.
According to a further aspect of the invention, a method for manipulating winding spools with a data carrier designed for contactless transmission of the winding spools and / or data specifying the wound material, and a transmitting / receiving unit for activating the data carrier, / Insert the receiver unit for activating the data carrier into the hollow cylindrical winding spool, in order to avoid simultaneous activation of several data carriers of different winding spools by the transmitting / receiving unit.
Further advantages and details are explained in more detail on the basis of the following description of the figures with reference to the drawing. 1 a and b show a winding spool with data carriers arranged thereon according to the prior art, FIGS. 2a and b show a schematic representation of a winding spool according to the invention, on which a data carrier is arranged, FIGS. 3a to d show a section of the wall of a 4a, b and c the arrangement of a data carrier in a cavity closed with a cover in the wall of the winding spool, FIG. 6 shows a schematic representation of an injection mold for a winding spool according to the invention,

1 a and b show a winding spool 1 with a data carrier 2 arranged thereon, as is already known from the prior art. The data carrier 2 has one
Antenna 5 and is arranged on the outer circumferential surface of the wall 11 of the hollow cylindrical winding coil 1. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the
Data carrier 2 against the outer peripheral surface of the wall 11 of the winding spool 1, so that it is hardly protected against external influences.
FIG. 2 shows a schematic illustration of the winding spool 1 according to the invention, in which the data carrier 2 is at least partially in the wall 11 of the hollow cylindrical one
Coil 1 is arranged. The antenna 5 of the data carrier 2 is in one on the wall
11 of the winding spool 1 on the outside circumferential groove (not shown), so that both the data carrier 2 and the antenna 5 are much better protected compared to the prior art. Some of the possible embodiments of such a recess 12 are shown in FIGS. 3a to d. In Fig. 3a, the U-shaped recess 12 is arranged on the inner peripheral surface of the wall 11 of the winding spool 1, while in Figs. 3b to 3d the recess 12 is arranged on the outer peripheral surface of the wall 11 of the winding spool 1.
The shape of the recess is of course not limited to the U-shaped, V-shaped and semicircular designs shown.
Fig. 4 shows an embodiment of the invention, in which a groove 12 is formed in the wall 11 of the winding spool 1, which can be milled, for example. Subsequently, the data carrier 2, which can also have a ring-shaped antenna 5, is inserted into the cutout 12 and then the cutout 12 is closed with a cover 13 to form a cavity 18 in the wall 11. This cover 13 can, for example, be glued to the wall 11 or cast onto it. A particularly simple possibility of forming a cavity in the wall 11 of the winding spool is obtained if, as shown in FIGS. 5a and b, the winding spool is made in several parts, with a recess at least in one wall 11 'of the winding spool 1
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
12 is arranged.
This recess 12 is from the wall 11 of the second part of the
Winding spool 1 closed to form a cavity.
If the winding spool is made of plastic, it is of course possible to manufacture it in
Injection molding process (Fig. 6). The data carrier 2 together with the antenna 5 is in front of the
Injection process arranged between the mold 19 and the core 14, so that it at
Introducing the plastic 15 is poured into the wall 11 of the winding spool.
7 shows a winding spool 1 on which a data carrier 2 is arranged. On the winding spool
1, the material 3, for example cigarette paper, is wound up. The data carrier 2 is designed as a passive data carrier with regard to its power supply and has the form of a chip, as shown in FIG. 10. There is an encrypted on the chip
Data field 4 and a wound antenna 5 are arranged. Of course, printed or etched antennas are also suitable. The encrypted data field 4 contains both winding-specific data 6 and material-specific data 7.
11 shows the mode of operation of a manipulation system for the winding spools according to the invention. The antenna 8 transmits a signal with which the data carrier 2, which is arranged on the winding spool 1, is activated, whereupon the data carrier 2 in turn transmits the data 6, 7 stored on it via its antenna 5. These data 6, 7 are received by the transmitting / receiving unit via the antenna 8 and fed to a reading device 9, the data 6, 7 being transmitted via a data line 7.
Of course, wireless transmission of the data is also possible. Subsequently, the data 6, 7 are forwarded from the reading unit 9 to the storage and processing device 10 and managed by the latter.
8 shows the use of the winding spool according to the invention as the core 1 of a bobbin 16.
1 cigarette paper 3 is wound on the bobbin core. The data carrier 2 is cast into the bobbin core 1, i. H. the data carrier 2 is enclosed on all sides by the material of the bobbin core 1. The bobbin core 1 itself is designed as an open, double-walled cylinder, so that the antenna 8 can be inserted into the bobbin core 1.
FIG. 9 shows a further exemplary embodiment in which a plurality of bobbins 16 are wound on a common core 1. In this exemplary embodiment, the data carrier 2 or the ring-shaped antenna 5 is on the outside in a cylinder on the outer cylinder wall

extending groove 12 arranged. Again, the data carrier 2 is activated by the antenna 8 and then sends the data stored on it.
