Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Process for the manufacture of vitreous objects.
It has been proposed to powder a lightly liquid glass mass, which was initially produced for melting glass components, and to produce formulas from the powder, which were fired on a clay base at a temperature sufficient to melt and fry the grains of the powder, see above that a glazed object is created.
The subject of the invention is a suitable support for this type of method.
Marble has proven its worth as such, and other forms, namely crystallized carbonate of lime, are also suitable. Crystallized carbonate of lime has the property of being transformed into unslaked lime with the separation of carbonic acid at a critical, sufficiently high temperature. If the crystallized carbonate of lime is treated below the aforementioned critical temperature, it retains its cohesion and consistency to a sufficient extent. It can also be heated without fear of adhesion to the fuel in contact with vitrifying masses which contain either very little lime compounds or none at all.
Compared to the clay previously used as a base, there is the advantage that. l neither warping and bursting like hot clay occurs when you take marble as a base, nor does that rough and wrinkled surface arise, which is described with the French art term h fleur du moule ".
The objects that the new process produces as products are, for example, ceramic decorative pieces as insert pieces for tables, cones, tiles, as a substitute for marble, terracotta, etc.
