Description

  Liquid fuel firing.

The invention relates to furnaces for liquid fuels with channel-like grate bars and consists in the special design of the channels of the bars with a step-like subdivision.

The invention is shown in an exemplary embodiment in the drawings, namely FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section and FIG. 2 shows a plan view of the grate, FIG. 3 shows a longitudinal section through a grate bar and a top view of the same and also an air distributor. FIG. 4 finally shows a section along the line I-I of FIG. 2.

From the oil pipe M branches lead to the individual grate bars A. These branches are provided with taps d. The grate bars A have inclined steps, which can best be seen in FIG. These grate bars are laid in such a way that the front wall is slightly inclined towards the fire bridge in order to prevent the fuel from flowing back towards the front side when, for example, the vehicle is rolling when using the furnace on ships.

The grate bars are covered by plates b, which have an almost perfectly flat shape, so that the air is forced to sweep over the fuel without penetrating into it, a disadvantage which is inherent in almost all other similar arrangements and which is very severe Shows smoke development and in the heel of soot on the walls of the furnace.

The passage of the air required for combustion is indicated by arrows. The purpose of the special shape of the masonry is to preheat the air before it is fed into the fuel.

Flap C is used to regulate the air admission into fire bridge B. This has small openings 0, which serve to introduce the hot secondary air into the combustion chamber both to the front and to the rear. The feed lines for the fuel are advantageously covered with masonry to prevent them from burning through.
