Light-off setzt früher ein;
vollständiger Umsatz von CO und HC, auch wenn stromaufwärts zusätzlich HC zur Verbrennung im Oxidationskatalysator dosiert wird (zur Temperaturerhöhung des Abgases);
vollständiger Umsatz auch bei Alterung des Oxidationskatalysators;
hoher NO2-Partialdruck nach dem Oxidationskatalysator, um die Russverbrennung im Dieselpartikelfilter zu verbessern;
Fig.
Light-off setzt früher ein;
vollständiger Umsatz von CO und HC, auch wenn stromaufwärts zusätzlich HC zur Verbrennung im Oxidationskatalysator zudosiert wird (zur Temperaturerhöhung des Abgases);
vollständiger Umsatz auch bei Alterung des Oxidationskatalysators;

The invention relates to an exhaust system for an internal combustion engine, in particular for a diesel internal combustion engine, having an exhaust gas line, in which at least one exhaust gas aftertreatment device is arranged, with at least one Denox unit arranged downstream of a first oxidation catalytic converter.
NO2 and NO are components of the raw exhaust gas of diesel engines. In the oxidation catalyst, whose primary task is the combustion of CO and HC residues, NO is partially converted to NO2. The resulting ratio of NO2 to NO is a function of the noble metal concentration in the oxidation catalyst, the space velocity, the partial pressure of the NOx, and the temperature in the oxidation catalyst.
NO2 is used in the diesel particulate filter, which is typically passed through the oxidation catalyst, as an oxidizing agent for the permanent oxidation of the soot deposited thereon. As a further component of a diesel exhaust system, to reduce the NOx emissions, a Denox unit formed, for example, by a SCR catalyst (Selective Catalytic Reduction) can be used, in which NOx is reduced by means of metered NH3.
Both the NO and the NO 2 components of the exhaust gas should be reduced as completely as possible to N 2 at this stage.
For the following reasons, the highest possible activity (corresponding to high noble metal mass) of the oxidation catalyst is desirable:
Light-off starts earlier;
complete conversion of CO and HC, even if upstream additional HC is metered for combustion in the oxidation catalyst (to increase the temperature of the exhaust gas);
complete conversion even with aging of the oxidation catalyst;
high NO2 partial pressure downstream of the oxidation catalyst to improve soot combustion in the diesel particulate filter;
On the other hand, however, for the catalytic activity or the complete conversion of the NOx in the Denox unit, a molar ratio NO [sum] / NO of 1 is advantageous.
In addition, a ratio NO2 / NO> 1 can lead to the formation of nitrous oxide (N2O) in the Denox unit. At a high catalyst mass NOjt / O = 1 but at essential operating points over> 2 **
In the oxidation catalytic converter, too much NO is converted into NO2.
JP 2005-002968 A discloses an internal combustion engine with an exhaust gas line in which a powerful oxidation catalytic converter and an SCR catalytic converter are arranged. The oxidation catalyst can be bypassed via a bypass line.
As soon as the exhaust gas temperature reaches a value in which the inversion rate of the oxidation catalyst is at least 50%, the exhaust gases are bypassed the oxidation catalyst to avoid excessive generation of NO2, which would reduce the NOx conversion rate in the SCR catalyst.
EP 1 357 267 A2 describes an exhaust system for a diesel engine with an SCR catalytic converter in the exhaust gas line, upstream of which an oxidation catalytic converter and a hydrolysis catalytic converter are arranged in parallel flow paths. Hydrolysis catalyst and oxidation catalyst are simultaneously flowed through by separate partial exhaust gas streams.
This allows a compact design and reduced exhaust back pressure.
The object of the invention is to achieve a high catalytic activity both in the oxidation catalyst and in the SCR catalyst.
According to the invention, this is achieved by arranging a second oxidation catalyst upstream of the denox unit, wherein preferably first and second oxidation catalysts are designed for different catalytic activities and / or for different temperature ranges. The oxidation catalysts preferably have different amounts of precious metals.
In a first preferred embodiment, it is provided that the first and second oxidation catalytic converter are arranged in the exhaust gas flow parallel to each other, wherein preferably the flow of at least one oxidation catalyst is adjustable by means of an actuator.
Alternatively, it may also be provided that the first and second oxidation catalysts are arranged in series in the exhaust gas line, wherein at least one oxidation catalyst can be bypassed via a bypass line. Preferably, an actuator is arranged in the bypass line. If necessary, the catalyst with the higher activity can be switched on or off, or only a partial amount of exhaust gas can flow through it.
The two oxidation catalysts can be housed in separate or in a single common housing. 9 [lambda] J * ** *
In a further embodiment of the invention can be provided that a particulate filter upstream of the denox unit, preferably downstream of a metering device, is arranged for reducing agent.
As a result, the reducing agent can be sprayed into hot exhaust gas and a more complex mixing section can be realized.
A particularly accurate control of the catalytic activity can be achieved if the actuator depending on the NOx content in the exhaust gas, the temperature of the exhaust gas, the pressure drop of the diesel particulate filter, the air mass flow, the fuel mass flow, the crankshaft speed or the like is model-based adjustable, preferably at least one NOx sensor is arranged downstream of the Denox unit
The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to FIGS.
1 shows an exhaust system according to the invention in a first embodiment and FIG. 2 shows an exhaust system according to the invention in a second embodiment, FIG. 3 shows the nitrogen oxide conversion rate plotted against the temperature.
FIG.
1 shows an exhaust system 1 of a diesel internal combustion engine 2 with an exhaust gas line 3 in which a first oxidation catalytic converter 4 and a second oxidation catalytic converter 5 are arranged. Downstream of the two oxidation catalysts 4, 5, a denox unit designed as an SCR catalyst 6 for the selective catalytic reduction of the NO x with the aid of a metered reducing agent such as urea or NH 3 is arranged. Between metering device 10 and SCR catalytic converter 6, a particle filter 9 may be arranged. The first oxidation catalyst 4 has a lower catalytic activity than the second oxidation catalyst 5.
If necessary, the second oxidation catalytic converter 5 can be activated or deactivated by means of an actuator 7.
The exhaust system 1 shown in FIG. 2 differs therefrom in that the first and second oxidation catalysts 4, 5 are connected in series in terms of flow, wherein the second oxidation catalyst 5 can be bypassed via a bypass line 8, in which the actuator 7 is arranged.
In both oxidation catalysts 4, 5 may be separate or arranged in a common housing.
If there is an increased demand for catalytic activity, the second oxidation catalyst 5 is activated by means of the actuator 7, whereby exhaust gas is passed through it.
Optionally, several actuators may be provided. * [pound] [phi] * - 00
3 shows a diagram in which the NOx conversion rate CONVNOX in% is plotted against the temperature T in [deg.] C. Furthermore, the ratio NO2 / NO is drawn. Line 20 indicates the NOx conversion rate in an exhaust aftertreatment system consisting of only a Denox unit. Line 30 shows the NOx conversion rate for an aftertreatment system that includes a high performance oxidation catalyst and a downstream Denox unit. Line 35 shows the ratio NO2 / NO for this case. Line 40 describes the NOx conversion rate for an exhaust aftertreatment system having an oxidation catalyst optimized in ratio NO2 / NO = 1 and a Denox unit.
Line 45 describes the NO2 / NO ratio for this case. The dotted line 50 shows the optimum ratio NO2 / NO = 1.
With the exhaust systems 1 shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the NO 2 / NO ratios of the areas A drawn in FIG. 3 between the curves 35 and 45 can be adjusted by stepless adjustment of the actuator 7.
The setting of the actuator 7, for example, designed as a flap can run regulated via a downstream of the Denox unit NOx sensor 10 or adjusted based on parameters such as temperatures of the exhaust line 3, pressure drop of the diesel particulate filter, air mass flow, fuel mass flow, engine speed and similar model-based ,
It is also possible to combine the systems shown in FIGS. 1 and 2.
The first oxidation catalyst 4 contains only so much noble metal that in the temperature range from 200 ° C. to 300 ° C., there is no slump in the conversion in the SCR catalyst 6. At temperatures below 200 ° C., however, a large part of the conversion in the SCR catalyst 6 would be dispensed with in this way.
Furthermore, it would not be possible to make all the advantages that can be achieved from a high activity of the oxidation catalyst. High activity of the oxidation catalyst has the following advantages:
Light-off starts earlier;
complete conversion of CO and HC, even if upstream addition of HC is added to the combustion in the oxidation catalyst (to increase the temperature of the exhaust gas);
complete conversion even with aging of the oxidation catalyst;
high NO2 partial pressure downstream of the storage catalyst to improve soot combustion in the diesel particulate filter; laa * [phi] a¯ [phi] a
On the other hand, however, for the catalytic activity or the complete conversion of NOx in the SCR reaction, a molar ratio NO 2 / NO of 1 is advantageous. In addition, a ratio NO2 / NO> 1 can lead to the formation of nitrous oxide (N2O) in the SCR stage.
At a high catalyst mass NO2 / NO = 1 is exceeded in essential operating points, that is, in the catalyst too much NO is converted into NO2.
Based on the solution described with two oxidation catalysts 4, 5 can be a use of catalytically coated diesel particulate filters (in which catalytically additional NO2 would be nachproduziert) avoid, as coming in all operating ranges of the incoming gas from the storage catalytic converter already has a sufficiently high NO 2 partial pressure.
In an uncoated diesel particulate filter 9 more or less exclusively burns carbon, but not NH3 (which would be the case in a catalytic diesel particulate filter). Therefore, a supplement NH3bzw.
Urea metering by means of a metering device 10 before the diesel particulate filter 9 follow, although the SCR catalyst 6 follows only after the diesel particulate filter 9. Thus, the reducing agent can be sprayed into a hotter exhaust gas and realize a longer and more complex mixing section, which has a favorable effect on the dimensions of the exhaust system 1. The structural combination of diesel particulate filters 9 and SCR catalyst 6 is also possible because no intermediate route for metering the reducing agent is needed.
