Internal combustion engine with rotating, radially arranged cylinders.

The invention relates to an internal combustion engine, intended mainly for vehicles of all types, with rotating, radially arranged cylinders, the combustion chambers of which face the axis, and which are continuous at a certain point in the circuit

to achieve permanent sealing between the rotating cylinders and the stationary hollow hub.

In the drawings, Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of the mode of operation, Fig. 2 is a section through the center plane of an eight-cylinder machine, Fig. 3 is a section through one of the cylinders and through the axis and Figs. 4 and 5 show details.

The machine according to FIG. 1 has six cylinders 1 to 6 with the pistons movable therein and the piston rods which are indicated by their center lines and act eccentrically on a fixed axis. The cylinders are open on both ends and so are the pistons with the

 Self-rotation secured.

. The cylinders 16, which are provided with cooling fins 34, are, like the pistons 29, very long.

The latter have piston pins 30 on their outer end, which pass through the slots 31 on both sides through the cylinder wall and engage the ring pieces 33 by means of the piston rods 32. The latter happens through special joints 41, whereby a slight play of all piston rods is achieved on their way. The ring pieces 33 transmit the work of the piston to the wheel body, which is formed by the cylinder, and also run on
Ball bearings.

The fixed hub 17 is now of a peculiar design. This should form the end of all cylinders. Since the cylinders with their combustion chambers now rest on the hub, it is clear that, on the one hand, the most heated areas of the cylinders receive the least cooling during their rotation and, on the other hand, the hub is also exposed to strong heating. In order to bring about the necessary cooling in both directions, the stationary hub is only attached with one side to the stationary hollow support pin 39, but otherwise completely free inside and with the cooling and stiffening ribs 34b through a funnel 38 exposed to vigorous drafts from the front.

This therefore cools the hub, and since the latter always leaves the full cross-section of the cylinder sliding over it free, it enters the cylinder unhindered and flows through it, the air exiting again through the cylinder's gas outlets. This brings about a very quick and thorough cooling of the two highly heated parts. The openings 35, which open into the common channel 36 on each cylinder, serve as the gas outlet. All cylinders are connected by a common wheel rim 40, which also serves as an oil trap.

 pin 39.

From here it goes through the oil lines 43 into the channel 42 (FIG. 4), from which it spreads over the entire width of the contact surface of the sealing ring 28 for the cylinders and lubricates them on the hub 17. A part reaches the ball bearings 18 and 19 and the rest flows through the bores 45 to the oil pipes 47, which are fastened by means of the sleeves 46 and which directs it through the branches 48 to the cylinders, from where it passes through the holes 49 into the interior of the Piston and passes through the bores 50 to the piston pin.

A spark plug 51 (FIG. 2) is arranged for starting. The fuel is supplied through a pipe which guides it to the channel 56 and from there through the two branch bores 54 and 55 (FIG. 2) to the cylinder below. When entering this it is atomized in the manner described earlier.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1.
