The entire securing device is enclosed in a housing 18 which can be fastened to the base plate 9 by means of a lead lock. In order to be able to control the position of the lever 12 from the outside, a window 19 is attached to the housing, behind which a, for example, white screen 20 is located. At the end of the lever 12 there is a disc 21, which is colored red, for example, which covers the screen 20 when the lever is in the dotted position. If a current occurs at the left line terminal 2, it goes by means of a line to an off-switch contact 5, from there via the one contact 13 to the second off-switch contact 5 and from there via a coil 6 to the left appliance terminal.
The current then comes back from the right apparatus terminal via the second coil 6 and via the contacts 5, 13 and 5 arranged on the rear side of the block 11 and the lever 12 into the right line terminal 2.
If the intensity of the current increases beyond a certain permissible level, the magnet armature 15 is attracted by overcoming the spring acting in the direction of arrow 16, whereby the hook 14 loses its support and the lever 12 is released. In this case, the spring 17 comes into effect and the lever moves into the position indicated by dotted lines, in which the circuit breaker contacts 5 are interrupted, but the short-circuit contacts 3 are conductively connected to one another by the contact piece 13.
The current entering one terminal 2 is thus transferred from one short-circuit contact 3 via the contact piece 13 to the second contact 3 and the second terminal 2. The completed switch-off is indicated by the appearance of the red disk 21 in the window 19.
In order to switch the circuit on again, the pull cord 18 only needs to be pulled, whereby the lever is brought into the position shown in full and the hook 14 snaps into place above the armature 15.
