In the arrangement according to FIG. 5 ', the white keys in each octave are of the same width, but the octaves near the ends of the keyboard have white keys of greater width than those of the octaves in the middle of the keyboard. For example, the octave that follows the line a4 b4 ci to the left has white keys that are wider than those of the octave to the right of this line.
The black keys are arranged in the same way as described with reference to FIG.
A practical arrangement carried out according to the above principle is as follows:
Of the 26 white keys on each side of the center line of the keyboard, the two white keys adjacent to the center line have a width of 54/64 in front. Inch. These two keys on either side of the center line are divided with their edges parallel to the center line of the keyboard.
This affects and reduces the amount of fanning and is practical and convenient. The following twelve white keys on the side of the above-mentioned two white keys are 55, '64 inches wide. The other twelve keys have a front width of 56/64 ".
With such a setting, the amount of fanning will be approximately the same as in the embodiment described in connection with FIG. H. the distance a1 d1 is equal to or slightly less than 15 / 8'1 or 40 mm. The radius of the outline of the front wheels of the white keys is, for example, 80 English. Inches. So far, when setting horizontal, straight or curved keyboards, it has been common practice to make all white heads the same width.
On the back of the keyboard, on the other hand, the distance between the HC part line and the next higher EF part line was divided into five parts, for the three white ends and two black keys, while the distance between the EF part line and the next higher HC part line into seven parts split to match the four white ends and three black buttons. With such a setting, the distance between the black F sharp and G sharp keys is less than the distance between the chattering C sharp and D flat keys, which is desirable for some forms of curved keyboards.
In the case of curved keyboards with keys of different widths, the arrangement can also be made so that the distance between C sharp and D flat and F sharp and G sharp can be made the same for each octave.
In Fig. 6, such a method of setting the keyboard has been illustrated. The

Both the black keys, however, are larger than in the octave just considered.
Instead of making the white keys Fig. 6 gradually increasing in width from the center of the keyboard outwards in each octave, the white keys of the notes C, D, E can be made the same width and also those of the notes F, G , A, H.
A simultaneous advantage of a keyboard built according to the invention is that it is relatively shorter due to the smaller width of the keys located near the center. In all cases the larger number of white notes in front has a smaller width than the usual width, and any degree of relative width may be assumed.
The fan-out of the keys may change at different points on the keyboard. As shown in FIG. 2, a convenient degree of fanning is achieved in that the boundary lines at both ends of the keyboard line up with radii of the front boundary line of the white keys. If too great a curve is made, i. H. a radial length
