Description

Sealing device for prime movers or pumps with rotating pistons.

The sealing device consists of thin strips or strips that are inserted in a polygonal shape in recesses and can move freely up and down in them. These strips are guided at each end and provide a vapor-tight or watertight seal between the end faces of the rotating piston and the flat inner surfaces of the cylinder; Closure.

Since the sealing strips are not connected to one another, the sealing shoes used for sealing between the piston skirt and the inner cylinder surface are selected to be so wide that they completely cover the spaces between the adjacent ends of two strips. It is advantageous here to produce the sealing pressure, as is known per se, mainly by the propellant.

Attempts have hitherto been made in many ways to produce such a closure, mostly by means of stuffing boxes or washers between the flat surfaces of the cylinder sliding on one another and the piston rotating therein, but with little success because the friction is great and variable. In many cases, the friction and sealing was dependent on coil springs, which almost always differ in their tension. In other cases there was no sealing device, and although the parts worked fairly tightly at first, this did not last long because the different speeds at radial distance from the piston axis meant that the wear was unequal, and the greater the distance from the axis .

Finally, there is also the arrangement of a single sealing strip which surrounds the shaft and is self-contained, from which extend individual arms which form a single piece. not a sufficiently secure degree because it can easily happen. that with stronger pressure on one side of this rigid strip system at other points of the same there is too little concern, which results in leaks. All these disadvantages are avoided in the subject matter of the invention.

In the drawing, Fig. 1 shows in cross section a! s embodiment, the application of the invention to a machine, the rotating piston in one direction in the same direction
