The present invention relates to a device for co-training the arm muscles for users of pedal-operated sports equipment, with a belt that can be placed around the thigh, which has a grip for gripping the hand in order to support the leg muscles by means of the arm muscles.
Such a device is known from US 5,768,702 A and allows the co-training of the upper body and arm muscles z. B. on a bike exercise bike. The user attaches one device to each thigh in the region of the knee and grasps each with one hand to assist the downward or upward movement of the legs with the arms.
In the device known from US Pat. No. 5,768,702 A, the handle is formed by a block adapted to the shape of the palm, which is fastened directly to the strap and gripped by the user from above. The palm rests on the block top and the fingertips cover the leading edges of the block. As a result, the tensile force exerted in the pulling direction is limited to the holding power of the fingertips, and by grasping from above a correct load on the biceps muscles is not guaranteed.
The present invention has for its object to provide a device of the type mentioned, which is suitable for any type of arm muscle training on a pedal-powered sports equipment. This object is achieved according to the invention in that the handle has a handlebar which can be fully grasped by hand, the axis of which is essentially parallel to the upper course of the belt and which is fastened to the belt by a holder at a distance from the belt.
In the construction of the invention, the handle can be used with both # overdrive, i. H. from above, as well as with "sub-grip", ie from below (palm facing upwards), so that both arm-stretching training and arm-train training can be carried out in the same way a bicycle exercise bike and corresponding shoe anchors on the pedals - a full-fledged curling machine for biceps and triceps training dar.
Further features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the subclaims and the following description of a preferred embodiment, which refers to the accompanying drawings.
In the drawings Fig. 1 shows the device of the invention in an end view, Fig. 2 in a side view and Fig. 3 in a plan view.
The device shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 comprises a handle bar 1, whose axis 2 is substantially horizontal in the position of use. The handle bar 1 is rotatably mounted at its ends in a fork 3, which is fastened via a base 4 to a flat thigh support 5. Alternatively, the handlebar 1 could also be mounted non-rotatably on the holder formed by the elements 3.4.
The thigh support 5 is part of a belt 6, 7 which can be placed around the thigh and which is detachable and adjustable by means of a closure ring 6 and a hook-and-loop fastener (see at 7 in FIG. 1).
For use, a device is preferably attached to a thigh, namely in the lower area near the knee, and the user sits down on a pedal-operated sports equipment, for. B. The handlebars 1 of the two devices are each gripped with one hand (in a street bike, of course, only alternately with one hand possible because the other hand must remain on the handlebar; an exercise bike both grips can be taken at the same time 1) to support the leg muscles in the pedal rotation.
Due to the distance of the handle bar 1 to the base 4, the handle bars 1 can be taken both from above and from below, so that both a tensile and a pressure movement can be exercised.
