Eine ähnliche Lösung zeigt die JP 4-085476 (Patent Abstracts of Japan, Volume 016, No. 306, 1992).
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a profile rail according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
These are, in particular, those profiled rails which are used to guide running elements which in turn are fastened to sliding elements, such as, for example, folding doors, sliding doors or the like, in particular in versions such as those used in conservatories and partition walls.
Profiled rails of this type are often provided with a cover element in the form of a folding flap which, when the running elements in question are pushed back (for example when the sliding door is open), completely or partially covers the profiled rail in order to cover the running channel formed between the legs of the U-shaped profiled rail To protect the running elements from dirt and thus to guarantee a safe running and long life of the system.
In the case of a product of this type on the market, the cover element is held on a long side of the profile rail by means of hinge-like joint elements, a solution which requires a relatively high production outlay, has an aesthetically unsatisfactory effect and is susceptible to failure.
In the generic JP-08-218723 A (Patent Abstracts of Japan, Volume 1996, No. 12, 1996), the articulated connection is produced with the aid of a separate guide element for the cover element, which in turn is introduced into the profile rail, and one another forms about 90 extending arcuate cavity into which a corresponding arcuate extension of the cover element slides.
A similar solution is shown in JP 4-085476 (Patent Abstracts of Japan, Volume 016, No. 306, 1992).
These previously known solutions also require a high manufacturing outlay for the separate guide element.
From DE 198 23 853 A1, a profiled side guide rail is known, in which the outer leg can be separated from the rest of the notes by means of an articulated connection (FIG. 7) after a securing component has been removed. Although a separate component for this articulated connection is dispensed with here, the articulated connection serves a different purpose than the subject matter of the invention, where removal of the cover element from the profile rail is not provided.
It is therefore an object of the invention to develop a generic profile rail with cover element so that the manufacture is simplified and the function is more reliable.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in accordance with the characterizing part of patent claim 1.
The basic idea of the invention is therefore to be seen in designing the articulated connection as an integral part of both the profiled rail and the cover element, which are guided into one another in a positive and non-positive manner and permit a sufficient opening or pivoting angle. It is therefore possible, in particular, to dispense with separate joint or hinge elements, assembly is simplified and the function is more reliable.
A first advantageous embodiment of the solution according to the invention provides that the cover element is spaced and held from the axis of the joint elements in such a way that the connection section of the cover element forms a shoulder on the first joint element, which stops with the outer edge region of the first leg forms in the open position of the cover member.
Such a stop of the cover plate in its open position relieves the joint connection of forces by introducing it into the leg.
A second advantageous embodiment provides that the connection section of the cover element and the edge region of the profile rail have corresponding profiles, such as, for example, B. cones and gutters.
Profiles of this type ensure secure positioning and centering of the cover element in its open position.
A third advantageous embodiment provides that the cover element, in its closed position, projects horizontally beyond the second leg opposite the joint.
This makes it easier to lift the cover element.
A fourth advantageous embodiment provides that the cover element on its underside
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
has a sealing element which rests on the second leg of the profile rail.
This measure enables a seal in particular against moisture both in the opening and in the closed position of the cover element with respect to the second leg of the profile rail or the wall of the running element, particularly if, according to a further embodiment, the upper edge region of the second leg follows the profile rail is inclined outside.
A further advantageous embodiment provides that the two legs of the profiled rail each enclose a chamber which extends in a corner angle shape into the adjacent areas of the base part.
This solution increases the stability of the construction, creates a drainage channel and facilitates the assembly of the profile rail.
A preferred embodiment of the profile rail according to the invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to drawings, in which: FIG. 1: cross section through the profile rail according to the invention with the cover element closed, and FIG. 2: cross section corresponding to FIG. 1 with the cover element open.
The profile rail 10 has an essentially U-shaped cross section, with a base part 13 and legs 11 and 12 which extend upwards on both sides thereof and which are double-walled over most of their length, so that a chamber 16 and 17 is formed, which extends in a corner angle shape in the adjacent areas of the bottom part 13. This "corner angle channel" also serves as a drainage channel and for mounting the profile rail.
The interior of this profile rail 10 can be closed with a cover element 20 (FIG. 1) if there are no running elements in the profile rail, or it can be opened (FIG. 2) if the running elements (shown in dashed lines) are in the rail and in one direction can be moved perpendicular to the plane of the drawing.
The cover element 20 essentially consists of a plate which extends over the open end of the profile rail 10, the end regions of this flap being designed to be function-specific:
At one end, the hinge area 21, this flap is bent downwards at a right angle and there is a channel-shaped, first hinge element 24 which extends over a circumferential angle of approximately 180.
At the upper end of the first leg 11 enclose its edge regions 11A and 11B over a circumferential angle? of approximately 270 a second joint element 14, 14A, which is complementary to the first joint element 24 and which extends in a rib-like manner with a circular end cross-section at a distance between the two edge regions 11A, 11B, so that two channel-shaped channels K1 and K2 are formed, into each of which approximately one half of the channel-shaped first joint element 24, depending on the position of the cover element 20, is immersed. This makes it possible for the inner surface of the channel-shaped first joint element 24 to slide coaxially on the outer surface of the tubular second joint element 24, thus opening or
Closing movement about the axis X with the two end positions shown in Figure 1 and 2 is possible. The respective spanned angles of the inner surface of the trough-shaped first joint element, the outer surface of the second joint element and the two channels K1, K2 are matched to one another in such a way that, on the one hand, pivoting about the axis X by a pivoting angle a of approximately 90 is possible, but on the other hand In both end positions, a secure mounting of the cover element on the leg 11 remains guaranteed.
A first profile in the form of a groove 15 is embedded in the upper end face of the edge region 11A, and accordingly a second profile in the form of, for example, pins or a rib is positioned in the angled joint region of the cover element 20 in such a way that in the open position (FIG. 2 ) these two profiles interlock, whereby on the one hand positioning / centering of the cover flap is achieved, but in particular a secure stop of the cover flap in the open position, which relieves the articulation from possible forces when the cover flap is open and introduces it into the legs 11.
The other end of the cover element 20 has a profile, in which a sealing element 22, for example in the form of a plastic profile, is held, the underside of which in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The closed position (FIG. 1) lies at least partially on the upper edge region 12A of the second leg 12, which is bevelled outwards. It is particularly important here that in the closed position, the cover element 20 projects beyond the outside of the second leg 12, which makes it easier to lift the cover element 20.
In the open position of the cover element 20, the sealing element 22 then bears against the wall of the running element and also provides a seal here. Preferred materials for both the profile rail and the cover element are aluminum.
