The invention relates to a computer mouse with a ball transmitting its displacement to the computer and at least one control contact which can be actuated independently of the ball. The controls of known computer mice are actuated by keys which are arranged on the upper part of the computer mice. By moving the computer mouse and thereby rotating the ball, the cursor is placed on the computer screen at the desired location and the corresponding control process is triggered by pressing a key . By pressing a key in quick succession, another control process can be triggered or several keys are provided on the top of the computer mouse, when actuated different control processes are effected.
The handling of such a computer mouse is sometimes difficult because, on the one hand, the shift should be carried out with the entire hand and the button should be pressed with just one finger.
Computer mice have also become known in which, instead of the movement of a ball, the deformation of bodies causes the cursor to be displaced on the screen. This deformation is caused by a more or less strong pressure on the computer mouse without moving it at the same time. The direction of the pressure applied controls the direction of the cursor and the strength of the pressure controls the speed of movement of the cursor. Apart from the relatively complicated structure of such a computer mouse, keys for triggering control processes are also required here, so that essentially the same difficulties are encountered when handling this type of mouse as can occur in computer mice with bullets.
The invention has set itself the goal of creating a computer mouse of the type mentioned, by means of which the control processes can be triggered more easily than before. This is achieved in that the upper part of the mouse is pivotally mounted relative to the lower part and in the pivoting path of the at least one Control contact is arranged.
In a computer mouse according to the invention, both the ball and the control contacts can only be actuated by moving the entire hand - without separate movement of individual fingers. The control contacts are actuated only by slightly turning the hand and thus the upper part of the computer mouse. Another advantage of a computer mouse according to the invention is that the contacts due to overflowing liquid, eg. B.
Coffee, are protected
If the computer mouse according to the invention is to correspond to a "two-button mouse", according to the invention the upper part is mounted around a cutting edge on the lower part.
If more than two control contacts are desired, corresponding to a "three or four button mouse", the upper part is supported by a point bearing on the lower part.
The invention is described in more detail below with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawings, without being limited to this example. 1 shows the top view of a computer mouse according to the invention, the ball arranged inside the mouse, the cutting edges and the control contacts being indicated by dash-dotted lines or dash-dotted lines. Fig. 2 shows a section along the line 11 - II in Fig. 1.
According to the drawings, a computer mouse according to the invention consists of an upper part 1 and a lower part 2. A ball 3 is mounted in the lower part 1, which transmits control commands for moving the cursor on the screen via a control line 4 via a known and therefore not shown mechanism.
The upper part 1 is mounted on two axially and centrally arranged cutting edges 5, 6 on cutting edge bearings 7 of the lower part 2. Protrusions 8 of the lower part 2 are engaged in grooves 9 of the upper part 1, so that lifting of the upper part 1 from the lower part 2 is prevented, but a pivoting movement of the upper part 1 in the direction of the double arrow P is possible. Two plungers 10 protrude from the upper part 1 and, when the upper part 1 is pivoted, cooperate with control contacts 11 fastened to the lower part, which are designed as pressure switches with pressure springs 12. The pressure springs 12 hold the upper part 1 in its central position. The control contacts 11 are designed in a known manner to control processes in the computer.
The structure of the computer mouse according to the invention also results in its mode of operation: the ball 3 moves when it is merely moved and when it is pivoted

of the upper part 1 relative to the lower part 2, one of the two control contacts 11 is actuated
Numerous modifications are possible within the scope of the invention. Thus, the upper part 1 could be mounted on the lower part 2 via a point bearing, so that pivoting is not only possible in one plane. With such an arrangement, three or more control contacts 11 could be arranged.
