<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The invention relates to a dry mortar or ready-to-use cement-based mortar which can be used as insulating plaster for the acoustic and thermal insulation of interior and exterior walls, can be applied manually or mechanically to floors and interior walls of buildings and a method for its production according to the preamble of Claims 1 and 2.
Thermal plasters are used for the thermal and acoustic insulation of interior and exterior walls. Such mortar mixtures are described in the patent steps DE 18 03 381, DE 32 38 390, CH 612 659, DE 34 33 543 and DE 41 01 289.
They usually consist of cement-bound polystyrene rigid foam and / or foamed perlite, and are applied manually or by machine in a layer thickness of 5 to 8 cm to vertical walls. The acoustic and thermal dam effect is based on the high air pore content of the hardened plaster. A total air pore content (foam pores and mortar air pores) of> 60% is required for standard thermal insulation. The dry bulk density of the hardened plaster is a measure of the air pore and foam pore content. Insulating plasters usually have a dry bulk density of <400 g / i. The air pore content or the specific weight is determined by the content of polymeric z. B.
Polystyrene foam, and / or mineral foams, e.g. B. perlite, and adjusted by adding foaming agents to the mortar.
Thermal plaster is produced and used as dry mortar or ready-mixed mortar. According to ÖNORM B3340, dry mortar or ready-mixed mortar are mineral-based mixtures, hydraulic binders such as B. Portland cement, hydrated lime or gypsum and according to the intended use additives and supplements such. B. containing sand that a directly applicable fresh mortar by mixing water in a compulsory mixer or by manual mixing with the required amount of water
EMI1.1
such as As hydroxyalkyl celluloses, starch ethers, solidification retarders, solidification accelerators, emulsifiers, plastic dispersions, air entraining agents, etc.
The additives and additives serve to adjust the processing, setting and hardening behavior of the fresh mortar mixtures produced by adding water. In particular, the processing behavior according to the tradition of craftsmanship is decisive for the usability of dry mortar formulations. For external plasters, however, the adhesion of the fresh mortar to vertical walls, the start of setting and hardening, cracking, bending tensile, compressive and adhesive tensile strength, shrinkage, uniformity and the temperature dependence of these properties are of crucial importance.
This characteristic of dry mortar formulations based on hydraulic binders such as B. Portland cement, hydraulic lime or gypsum and sand as an inorganic additive are adapted to the respective needs of the construction industry according to ÖNORM B 3340 by means of modifying additives. The influence of these additives on the mortar properties is known (H. Reul "Handbuch der Bauchemie", publishing house for chemical industry H. Ziolkowsky KG (1991)).
However, the use of rigid polystyrene foam instead of sand as an additive in thermal insulation plasters brings about a significant change in the fresh mortar shade in terms of processability, consistency, adhesion, rigidity, setting and hardening behavior.
EMI1.2
In addition, this commonly used thermal plaster sets very slowly, within 24 hours. In connection with the low adhesion and low stability of the fresh mortar on the outside wall, especially at outside temperatures <15 * C, this can cause slippage until the plaster is completely detached from the wall.
In dry mortar formulations containing conventional sand and / or gravel, the physical properties of the fresh mortar, in particular processability and consistency, are essentially determined by the particle size distribution of the aggregate. The grain size distribution or sieve line of the aggregates is therefore prescribed in accordance with ÖNORM B 3340, naturally with the exception of thermal insulation plasters.
As mentioned above, the undesirable properties which are disadvantageous both for the processing and for the hardened heat-insulating mortar usually used are attributable to the use of rigid polystyrene foam as an additive.
The task for the method according to the invention was therefore to formulate a ready-made mortar containing polystyrene hard foam as an additive, in which these undesirable properties are avoided by suitable additives and properties are achieved which are similar to ready-made mortars containing sand as an additive.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to the invention, the features of claims 1 to 15, in particular claims 1 to 6, are used to achieve the object.
Surprisingly, it had been shown that with a combination of known and used in various ready-mixed mortar formulations containing sand as an additive to achieve a wide variety of properties, additives and additives could be obtained in a ready-made mortar formulation containing rigid polystyrene foam as an additive.
In mortars containing sand as an aggregate, the grain size distribution of the sand (sieve line) is coordinated so that the highest possible packing density of the mineral grain fractions results in connection with the binder. The grain size distribution is selected in accordance with ÖNORM B 3340 so that the fine grain of the sand can fill the spaces between the coarse sand grains. The tight packing and the connection of the mineral grains with each other and with the mineral binder is also increased by their easy wettability with water.
Rigid polystyrene foam naturally does not contain any fine fractions. The particle size distribution of spherical polystyrene rigid foam is within relatively narrow limits, e.g. B. q, 0. 5 - 3 mm, and therefore does not allow a tight packing in view of its use as an additive in mortar. In conventional and customary mortar mixtures, the replacement of sand with rigid polystyrene foam as an additive leads to a loose and loose packing of the rigid polystyrene foam balls with open air-filled spaces.
This inhomogeneous, loose internal structure of the fresh mortar naturally causes both a low internal stability (cohesion) or stability as well as a low retention (adhesion) to the base, e.g. B. Outside walls. Naturally, due to the loose, inhomogeneous packing, the strengths (compressive, bending tensile and adhesive tensile strengths) are also greatly reduced. This lack of internal strength or
The structure cannot be compensated for even by adding hydroxyalkyl celluloses (tyloses) commonly used in ready-mixed mortars. Hydroxyalkyl celluloses cause structurally viscous behavior of aqueous solutions and suspensions and generally increase the stability and internal cohesion of mineral suspensions by increasing the viscosity at rest (H. Reul "Handbuch der Bauchemie", publishing house for chemical industry H. Ziolkowsky KG (1991) ).
Surprisingly, it was found that the missing fine-grain fraction was replaced by stabilized, homogeneously distributed, fine-particle air bubbles and the required and desired packing density and internal strength or structure can be obtained.
The formation of this fine-particle or fine-celled bubble or pore structure, in which the polystyrene balls are embedded, is achieved by the addition of hydrated lime and, in particular, a dispersing and wetting agent and an air-entraining agent in conjunction with one in gypsum-containing mortar mixtures
EMI2.1
Se used hydroxyalkyl celluloses achieved.
An addition of 2-20 g of hydrated lime, 0.01-0 was found to be particularly advantageous. 10g of a disperser and
EMI2.2
the fresh mortar mixture could be further increased by adding 45-150 ml expanded perlite.
Polyalkyl ethers have proven to be particularly suitable as dispersants and wetting agents. The most advantageous results were achieved with a copolymer of ethylene and propylene oxide.
Alkyl or olefin sulfonates have proven to be particularly suitable as air-entraining agents. The most advantageous results were achieved with a long-chain sodium olefin sulfonate.
Surprisingly, it was found that particularly advantageous properties of the fresh mortar with regard to stability, adhesion and in particular with regard to workability after application to walls could be achieved by the combination of hydroxyalkyl cellulose types of different viscosities.
In finished plasters, hydroxyalkyl cellulose is usually added to increase the viscosity and thus the plasticity of the fresh mortar. Hydroxyalkyl celluloses cause structurally viscous behavior of solutions and suspensions in such a way that in fresh mortar mixtures the viscosity decreases during the processing and finishing process and the mixtures therefore become liquid to plastic, but the viscosity increases again strongly in the idle state. Hydroxyalkyl celluloses increase the water retention capacity in fresh and set mortar and therefore delay the evaporation of the amount of water required for the hydraulic hardening of Portland cement.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In order to achieve these effects, the ready-mixed mortar is usually 0. 1-0. 2% of a hydroxyethyl or hydroxymethyl cellulose mixed in, which gives a Brookfield viscosity of 6000-40,000 mPas in aqueous 2% solution. In ready-mixed mortars for applications in masonry mortar - in the light plaster area, in which workability is of paramount importance, hydroxyethyl or hydroxymethyl
EMI3.1
which the adhesion and stickiness of the fresh mortar is in the foreground, hydroxyethyl or hydroxymethyl celluloses with standard Brookfield viscosities up to 60,000 mPas are added, such as. B. In tile adhesive mortars and fillers.
The requirements placed on the consistency of fresh mortar, namely good workability and high stability and cohesion contradictory, a high stability requires a high intrinsic viscosity and strength of the fresh mortar, which naturally means a poorer flow behavior and therefore less workability and vice versa.
It has now surprisingly been found that in the insulating plasters according to the invention, a combination of hydroxyethyl or hydroxymethyl celluloses, which differ in their standard viscosity according to Brookfield by at least a factor of 1.5, but preferably at least 1.85, has both high adhesion and a high level of adhesion improved processability, in particular peelability, could be achieved. Particularly advantageous results were achieved with a methylhydroxyethylcellulose with a standard Brookfield viscosity of 7000 mPas and a methylhydroxyethylcellulose with a standard Brookfield viscosity of 13000 mPas.
While DE 18 03 381 emphasizes the unique application of the insulating plaster in a layer thickness of 5 - 8 cm, the insulation plaster according to the invention can be applied in layer thicknesses of at least 10 cm without the applied mortar slipping off the vertical walls or falls off.
When added individually, hydroxyalkyl celluloses with a standard Brookfield viscosity of approx. 7000 mPas gave good processability but insufficient stability, hydroxyalkyl cellulose with a standard viscosity of approx. 13000 mPas gave good stability but insufficient processability. An average value would have been expected from a combination of the two types of hydroxyalkyl cellulose, namely a reduced but sufficient stability and reduced but sufficient processability but not a high stability and high processability. The use of a hydroxyalkyl cellulose type with an average of the two methy! Hydroxyethy) ceiiu) osen corresponding viscosity level gave no satisfactory results, namely reduced stability but not sufficient processability.
A further significant improvement in the processability, in particular the removability, of the insulating plaster according to the invention applied to a wall resulted from the addition of cellulose
EMI3.2
1 cellulose fibers with a fiber length of 250 µm to 2 mm, preferably of about 500 µm and a maximum diameter of 50 µm, preferably of about 20 µm for the insulation plaster mixture according to the invention improves the processability of the applied fresh insulation plaster in such a way that under slight pressure on the surface a layer of smear is created on the mortar applied to the walls and the mortar can therefore be easily removed and modeled.
For insulating plasters applied to external walls, it is advantageous if the applied mortar sets after approx. 5 - 6 hours, but at the earliest after 2-3 hours, and begins to harden. With significantly longer setting times, there is a risk that the mortar will lose its strength due to the weather due to evaporation or be deformed by wind pressure.
As is generally known, the hydroxyalkyl celluloses, especially starch ethers, commonly used in mortar mixtures have a strong retarding effect on the setting and hardening of binder mixtures containing Portland cement. Surprisingly, however, it was found that adding 2 - 20% hydrated lime does not change the setting and hardening times due to the above-mentioned modified cellulose and starch compounds and that the mortar mixtures begin to set after the usual 3-5 hours.
The dry mortar mixture according to the invention is also characterized in that when using calcium aluminate-rich Portland cements, usually added adhesion promoters such as. B. reactive silicas or aluminosilicates as described in CH 612 659 and / or dispersion powder, for. B. polyacrylates, bring no benefits. However, when using Portland cement with a tricalcium aluminate content according to Bogue (H.F. W. Taylor, "Cement Chemistry", Academic Press, London (1990)) of less than 12% by weight, the addition of reactive silicas, aluminosilicates and / or dispersion powder, e.g. Polyacrylates, the adhesion of the applied mortar to the outer walls.
