Abstract

Magnet device for holding a prosthesis, in particular for holding a tooth prosthesis on an alveolar ridge, a permanent magnet being mounted in the prosthesis and a magnetizable anchor, for example of soft iron, being embedded in a cavity of the alveolar ridge. In order to guarantee a secure fit of the anchor in the alveolar ridge without special retaining devices, which can only be implanted in large alveolar ridges which do not pose a problem in respect of the fit of a tooth prosthesis, the invention provides that the anchor 3 has, on its side directed away from the prosthesis 1 in the implanted state, a greater width or diameter than on its side directed towards the prosthesis 1. <IMAGE>

Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The invention relates to a magnetic device for holding a dental prosthesis on a jaw ridge, in which a permanent magnet is held in the prosthesis and in one
Cavity of the alveolar ridge a magnetizable anchor, e.g. B. is made of soft iron.

Such a magnetic device has been used e.g. B. known from DE-OS 2708526. In this known solution, either a permanent magnet or a magnetizable armature is inserted into the
Implanted jawbone. The part implanted in the bone is made by means of a special
Holding device held in the corresponding cavity of the bone in order to avoid displacement of this part and emigration from the bone and injury to the mucous membrane.

The disadvantage of this solution lies in the need for a relatively large cave in the
Having to make bones to make room for the cradle. This also creates the problem of a relatively long healing process, which may also cause problems with the acceptance of the materials used by the tissue. In addition, this solution can only be used if there is a relatively large alveolar ridge. In such cases, a dental prosthesis usually does not require a special holding device in order to sit well.

The aim of the invention is to propose a device of the type mentioned at the outset in which these disadvantages are avoided and which make it possible to find sufficiency with the smallest possible hollows in the alveolar ridge and a simple structure of the device.

According to the invention, this is achieved in that the armature is coated in a manner known per se with an, in particular metallic, corrosion protection layer and a hard ceramic layer covering it, and in that the armature, in the implanted state, is covered by the
The side facing away from the prosthesis has a greater width or a larger diameter than on its side facing the prosthesis.

These measures make it possible to dispense with separate brackets for the anchor and to have the anchor held directly by the surrounding bone tissue. The corrosion protection layer and the hard ceramic ensure good compatibility.

In order to enable a particularly simple manufacture of the anchors, it can further be provided that the thickness of at least the outermost layer increases towards the side of the anchor facing away from the prosthesis. As a result, the anchor can easily be made from profiled bars, e.g. B. a rectangular profile made of soft iron, by simply cutting to length, the taper simply by correspondingly uneven layer thicknesses, for. B. the hard ceramic is achieved.

It has proven to be particularly favorable if the metallic corrosion protection layer consists of titanium, iridium or platinum, since these layers ensure the highest degree of corrosion protection, and this layer can be applied galvanically or vapor-deposited. Furthermore, it is expedient if the hard ceramic layer is formed by a fired-on aluminum oxide ceramic.

According to a further feature of the invention, it can be provided that a plurality of permanent magnets are arranged distributed in the prosthesis, for each of which an armature is provided, the armatures preferably being lenticular or rod-shaped. As a result, the individual permanent magnets, as well as the anchors assigned to them, can be made very small, since each only has to exert a small force. However, this has the advantage that with very small cavities for inserting the anchors it is possible to find enough length, which makes it possible to use this magnetic device even with severely atrophied jaw ridges with a correspondingly reduced bone substance.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawings. 1 schematically shows a section through the device according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II in FIG. 1 on an enlarged scale, and FIG. 3 shows an armature in section, again on an enlarged scale.

Embedded in the prosthesis-1-is one or more permanent magnets or permanent magnets - 2 - arranged substantially uniformly over the length of the prosthesis-1. The associated anchor --3-- is embedded in a cavity of the jawbone --4--, whereby the anchor --3-- lies in the spongiosa --5-- of the alveolar ridge and from the Compacta --6--

and the mucous membrane is --7-- covered.

This anchor is preferably formed by a round disk, but if necessary the anchor can be designed as a trapezoid, the edges of the anchor being broken or rounded as shown in FIG. 3.

The material for the permanent magnet (s) --2-- are rare earth metals or their

burned, aluminum oxide layer, covered. After inserting the anchor into the alveolar ridge, resorbable ceramic material, e.g. B. Hydroxyapatite ceramic, - 10 - introduced into the cavity.

As can be seen from FIG. 3, the thickness of this layer --9-- increases from top to bottom, so that when the anchor is implanted, it has a taper against the mucosa covering it.
