In the case of oil firing units, the aim is to reduce the dynamic pressure of the combustion air while maintaining the static pressure on the turbulator leading to the burner head, on the one hand to ensure even burning of the flame and to prevent the flame from being blown out when the oil supply is reduced, and on the other hand, any in the boiler and to overcome excess pressure occurring in the smoke ducts.
The invention is based on a device for throttling the dynamic pressure of the combustion air at the burner head of oil-firing units, which contains a radial fan with a fan housing and a wiper edge, the fan housing being provided below the wiper edge with a horizontal channel of preferably rectangular cross-section.
According to the invention, the intended purpose is achieved in that a side wall of this channel has a preferably rectangular opening, the underside of which is tangentially connected to the inside of a cylindrical air supply pipe, whose direction of flow

an outlet opening -7-. This arises between an essentially horizontally extending stripping edge - 2 - and the sloping wall opposite this, into which the housing jacket merges here tangentially, the sloping wall preferably forming an angle of 450 with respect to the stripping tongue.
The outlet opening --7-- leads to a mainly horizontally running short channel - 5-- which is attached below the wiping edge - 2 - and preferably has a rectangular cross section.
EMI1.2
Opening --3-- is provided, which opens tangentially into an air supply pipe --4-- located on the side of the fan housing - l - directly under its air intake opening --6--. This tangential supply line causes the air to move helically and axially in the opposite direction to the direction of flow in the channel - 5 -. This turn around 1800 of the axial movement of the air brings with it a considerable reduction in the dynamic pressure, to which the helical movement also contributes.
Attaching the air supply pipe - 4 - to the side of the actual fan housing - 1 - and directly below its air intake opening - 6 - also has the advantage that the overall height of the unit is much lower than when the air supply pipe is completely attached under the fan housing, as has been the case up to now. This low overall height has proven to be extremely useful in the now common low boilers, where it was difficult to accommodate a conventional firing unit.
It has also proven to be expedient to mount a cylindrical rotary throttle (not shown) in the air supply pipe --4-- within the opening 3, which is known per se, for adapting the blower capacity to the burner capacity.
