Both in the inlet valves and in the exhaust, the piston slides are under the action of springs F, which tend to bring the slides into the position which corresponds to the closed position of the valve in question.
The piston slide can be rotated by eccentrics, levers or any other control device. If the piston slide is to be actuated by means of electromagnets, the variable valve lift is achieved with the aid of a corresponding current-connection device. Such is shown in FIG. 3.
The contact surfaces C attached to a rotating disk, one of which is arranged for the inlet and the other for the outlet, close with the aid of the contact pins S which are adjustable in a loop of the regulator rod and with which they alternately come into sliding contact as they move, the circuits of the relevant magnet windings, which twist the piston rods and actuate the valves.
Depending on whether the contact pins S are closer to or further away from the control shaft, the valves are lifted for a longer or shorter period of time. By rotating the contact surfaces or the eccentric, the machine can be quickly reversed.
The piston slide K can also receive a longitudinal displacement instead of a rotary movement. In this case, the bell-shaped piston squint, as shown in Fig. 2, is provided with a cutout at its lower edge opposite the exhaust duct z, while it has an opening at its upper end on the side facing the steam duct d is provided so that the exhaust duct is in the raised position of the slide. in the lowered position, however, the steam channel is in communication with the space above the piston D. The lifting and lowering of the piston valve is effected by levers, eccentrics or with the help of electromagnets.
PATENT CLAIMS
1. Valve control, in which the valve is connected to a piston that can be displaced in a cylinder, one surface of which is constantly under the pressure of the steam flowing in or out, while the opposite surface is either under full steam pressure or under the pressure of a piston slide Pressure of the atmosphere can be set, characterized in that the piston slide lies in the valve axis and is directly connected to the valve piston. so that space is saved and the steam paths are shortened.
