The invention relates to a device for producing protective helmets which has an inner and an outer shape which form a closed shape for receiving the plastic compound.
It is known to manufacture protective helmets using an inner and an outer shape. With several shapes, essentially only average sizes can be formed. However, since there are many different head shapes, a correct fit is not always guaranteed.
Furthermore, a protective helmet is known which has a rigid outer shell and an elastic inner shell.
This inner shell adapts to multiple head shapes through elastic deformation. If necessary, a liquid medium can also be provided between the two shells, which is displaced in places according to the shape of the head. If a force occurs, for example in the form of a shock or blow to the helmet, the medium is generally pressed to the side and the inner shell is pressed together in a few places.
The acting force is then transmitted directly to the head at these points without any corresponding damping or distribution of the force over a larger area.
A protective helmet has therefore already been proposed which is adapted directly to the shape of the head. First, an inner shell shape is made from a bandage that is wrapped around the head of the future user and hardened. This form is to be mounted at a distance within an outer shell of a protective helmet, after which plastic compound is introduced into the space thus formed. After removing the inner shell shape, the inside of the protective helmet is lined with leather or the like on the plastic compound.
The production of such a protective helmet is cumbersome and very complex and therefore also expensive.
The invention has therefore set itself the task of remedying this and is characterized in that the inner shape consists of an elastic hood that can be placed on the head of the later helmet wearer, the edge gap between the hood and the outer shape being closed by a seal.
The protective helmet can thus be adapted directly to the respective user in a simple, faster and cheaper way in the retail store. Not only does this result in a correct fit on the head of the user, but also a force that occurs is distributed over the entire area into very small forces.
In the drawings, the subject matter of the invention is shown in several embodiments, for example. The figures show: FIG. 1 a mold according to the invention for the production of protective helmets, FIG. 2 a further exemplary embodiment of a mold and FIG. 3 a complete device.
As can be seen in Fig. 1, an elastic head cap - 1 - is provided, on which the external shape - 3, 4 - which consists of two parts, rests with spacer extensions - 2 -. The cavity formed in this way is closed to the outside by the sealing ring - 5 -. This cavity stands with a

The two cartridges - 7 - can be perforated with the piston in the cover - 9 - which can be detached by means of a bayonet lock. In this case, the cavity is filled with polyurethane foam, which forms the helmet. Expediently, ear bumps 10 are provided, in the area of which only a thin layer is formed so that there is no shielding against sound waves.
After loosening the sealing ring - 5 - the form-3, 4- can be swiveled up around the hinge-11- and removed. The finished helmet now has several openings in the area of the distance extensions - 2 -, which are used to ventilate the head. After removing the helmet, the elastic hood is also removed. The helmet formed in this way is therefore precisely adapted to the shape of the head. To manufacture another helmet, new cartridges - 7 - are arranged and the process can be repeated in the same way as described.
According to FIG. 2, an elastic hood is again placed on the head and forms with the outer shape

In order to achieve a smooth outer surface of the helmet, a cooling system is created in the outer area, i.e. in the outer shape --12--, by cooling coils --14--, which are supplied with a cooling medium via flexible lines - IS-- . This changes the cell formation in the outer area and creates a smooth surface. As a precaution, a pressure relief valve --16-- can also be provided.
According to Fig. 3, the shape - 12 - is arranged adjustable and lockable on a helmet --17 -. It is in the same way as in the previous embodiment with cartridge receptacles 6 and 6

a chin rest - 20 -, both of which are adjustable, is provided.
The invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiments shown. There are a number of

Given design options that are within the scope of the invention. For example, there is also the possibility of pressing the desired amount of the soft mass into the cavity with a device similar to a spray gun. Here, too, after a corresponding period of consolidation, the shape and then the finished helmet can be removed first.
