switching-on, an intermediate pressure having control section --19-- switched on, which by means of a pressure-sensitive control element --18-- always closes valves --15 and 16 - and switches off the synchronous clock - 9 - as soon as the pressure in the intermediate control section -19- reaches the upper pressure limit set in advance on the control element -18. The drying process is thus put into the so-called idle state, in which the device or the drying device of the same consumes practically no air.
This is obvious because the solenoid valve - 15 - takes the path of regenerating air, furthermore that
EMI2.1
--19-- The minimum pressure value set to secondary pressure-sensitive control element --18-- drops, the control element - 18 - opens the solenoid valves - 15 and 16 - and starts the synchronous clock - 9 -. The pressure in the intermediate control section - 19 - and the filling speed of the air tank --20-- is now determined by the valve --21--, whereby it is inexpedient to set this to a value higher than the maximum air consumption of the device to discontinue.
After the intermediate control section --19-- has been filled, the process described is repeated and the control element --18-- closes the solenoid valves - 15 and 16 - and turns off the synchronous clock - 9 - again.
As can be seen, the advantage of the device according to the invention is based on the fact that on the action of the pressure-sensitive organ - 18 - after the drying process has been stopped, each work cycle is continued exactly there, i.e. in that work phase, where it was interrupted during shutdown.
It should be noted that the air reservoir-20-additionally increases the volume of the intermediate control section -19- and thereby reduces the frequency of the switching periods of the pressure-sensitive control element -18-. The density of these switching periods is also reduced if the lower and upper pressure limits of the pressure-sensitive control element - 18 - are removed from one another, that is to say a greater pressure difference is set.
In the described device according to the invention, the respective pressure of the individual work phases, for. B. can be set to the following values: The pressure limits in the air tank --4-- and in the drying tanks right up to the valve controlled by the pressure-sensitive element - 18 - at 3.5 to 5 atmospheres.
The pressure of the dry air supplied by the device is usually known. The cable networks are usually kept under a pressure of less than 0.5 atmospheres, depending on the condition of the cables.
Operating pressures that extend up to 0.7 atmospheres upwards and up to 0.3 atmospheres downwards tend to occur.
The pressure limits of the control section --19 - of intermediate pressure must be above the highest pressure of the air supplied by the device and below the lower value of the pressure proposed for drying. Appropriately chosen pressure limits are z. B. 1, 5 to 3 atü.
If it is assumed that the amount of regenerating air is 50% of the amount of usable air supplied when the device is operated at maximum output, the compressor will stop after every one minute of operation for the following time interval expressed in minutes:

The device according to the invention will, in the event that it delivers less than the maximum amount - due to the fact that it is standing still for a long time - consume less power, cause less wear and tear, consume the desiccant more slowly and cause only less noise.
It does not matter if a larger apparatus is built into the device than is necessary at the moment, because the compressor only supplies as much air as would be necessary anyway to dry the air currently required.
