Thermischer Schalter in Miniaturausführung
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Thermal switch in miniature design
EMI1.1
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
appropriately unslit middle piece is connected to the bimetal disc by the center contact, while it is also appropriately unslotted edge part between
The base and cover shell or an edge ring connecting them and the one shell is clamped.
The object of the invention is to create a thermal switch in a form more suitable for mass production, while avoiding the disadvantages mentioned, the contact distance of which can be adjusted easily and quickly and which has only a small number of individual parts.
According to the invention, the contact tongue is in a non-positive connection with the thermo-bimetallic snap disk via a protrusion, dome or the like, the frame between a
Shoulder of the insulating body and a shoulder of the housing made of metal is held and the fixed switching contact has a contact surface that detects the mounting tolerances in the plane approximately parallel to the frame.
Because the frame carrying the contact tongue is held between the shoulders of the insulating body and the housing, it is in an electrically conductive connection with the housing in the simplest possible way without any further measures. Thermal bimetallic snap disk, frame including the contact tongue carrying the moving contact and insulating body with a fixed one attached to it
Switching contacts can be installed automatically in the housing, for example by shaking them.
The lateral position of the movable contact to the fixed contact is only relatively large
Tolerances determined. According to the invention, the fixed switching contact therefore has a contact surface that detects these assembly tolerances in the plane approximately parallel to the frame.
This contact surface of the fixed switching contact is expediently in the form of a circular or circular contact surface.
Circular ring disk formed with an eccentrically arranged center point with respect to the center of gravity of the contact surface of the movable contact and a correspondingly large diameter. In this case, the housing jacket, frame and thermal bimetallic snap disk should also be circular or.
Have circular ring shape. The assembly is then particularly easy, since the mutual position of the components can vary within the full angle of 3600. The increased consumption of material for the mating contact compared to conventional designs is outweighed by the simplification of assembly.
According to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, the contact surface of the fixed switching contact is designed essentially in the form of a segment of a circle, whereby contact material is saved compared to the full circle with sufficient consideration of the assembly tolerances.
To hold the frame between the shoulder of the insulating body and the shoulder of the housing, the edge of the housing projecting beyond the insulating body is expediently crimped.
While in the context of the invention the mutual lateral position of the movable and fixed switching contact only needs to roughly match, the mutual height position is of crucial importance for the proper functioning of the thermal switch. On the one hand, there must be no gradual opening of the contacts; on the other hand, the flashover voltage must have a minimum value before closing, e.g. B. 500 V, reach. In miniature thermal switches, the size of the tolerance field is in the order of 0.1 mm. According to a further development of the invention, the adjustment in this narrow tolerance field is now carried out by bending the fixed switching contact, which is known per se, whereby, due to the dimensions and tolerances of the individual parts, the contact distance before bending is basically too large.
For this purpose, the insulating body advantageously has at least one opening in the direction of movement of the movable contact.
For the connection of conductors to the two contacts, the housing expediently has a clamping lug into which the two supply wires are clamped insulated by means of their protective insulation, the end of one wire additionally being in conductive connection with the housing and thus with the movable switching contact and the end of the other wire is connected to a flag connected to the fixed contact.
In this case, at least one tab is advantageously bent out of the fixed switching contact for attaching the fixed switching contact to the insulating body, and one of these tabs is used to connect the one lead wire.
Further details of the invention emerge from the drawings, in which two exemplary embodiments are shown. 1 shows a thermal switch according to the invention in section along line II in FIG. 2, FIG. 2 shows a section along line II-II in FIG. 3, FIG. 3 shows a plan view of a thermal switch according to the invention, FIG second embodiment of a thermal switch according to the invention in section along line IV-IV in FIG. 5, FIG. 5 is a section along line VV in FIG. 6 and FIG. 6 is a plan view of this switch. In FIGS. 2 and 5, the strands are not shown in section.

The thermal switch shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 is intended in particular for direct installation in the winding of electrical machines and devices. It consists of a metallic, thermally conductive housing, preferably made of copper, a thermo-bimetallic snap disk - with a circular border, a spring tongue-4 that is firmly connected to a circular frame - 3 and arranged within it, the one carried by it

The spring tongue - 4 - is in frictional contact with the convex thermo-bimetallic snap disk --2-- via its lug --16--, is pressed upwards against its bias and the movable switching contact --5 welded to the end of the spring tongue - 4 - is in engagement with the fixed switching contact --8--.
The convex position of the thermal bimetal snap disk --2-- corresponds to the cold state. Should the ambient temperature of the thermal switch rise due to overload, short circuit or the like,
EMI3.3
The insulating body --6-- has a shoulder - 17 - between which and the shoulder --13-- of the housing the circular frame --3-- is held.
The fixed switching contact --8-- can consist of contact bimetal for reasons of economy, which is shown in Fig. 2 by different hatching of the components. It is attached to the insulating body --6-- by means of the rivet-7-. Insulating body --6--, rivet --7-- and fixed switch contact - form an assembly unit, which is conveniently preassembled before assembling the other parts.
When assembling the thermal switch, the thermal bimetallic snap disk-2--, the circular frame --3-- including the spring tongue --4-- and contact - as well as the assembly unit-6, 7, 8 - are inserted into the housing one after the other --1-- placed, for example by automatic jogging. The advantage of the design according to the invention comes into effect: the thermo-bimetallic snap disk --2-- and the frame-3 - can be rotated against each other and against the housing --1--, whereby the automation of the assembly is significantly cheaper.
After inserting the insulating body --6 - the protruding edge - 18 - becomes the
EMI3.4

The bracket --20--, which is divided into two by a U-shaped recess --21--, enables both the holder and the power connection of the stripped wire - 10--.
The adjustment of the contact distance takes place in the thermal switch shown in Figs. 1 to 3 by mechanical deformation of the housing --1--, u.zw. By bending the distance between the shoulder --- 12-- and the shoulder --13-- is reduced. For this purpose, the dimensions and tolerances are designed so that the contact spacing is correct or too large in the fully assembled, non-adjusted state of the switch.
In order to achieve a hermetic seal of the thermal switch, after assembly, adjustment and connection of the power supply lines, the upper side is sealed with an electrically insulating, warm or cold curing casting resin. In Fig. 2 the outer contour --23-- of the potting compound is shown; You have to imagine the entire space within the insulator 6 or power connections --9,10--, terminal lug --15-- and the outer contour --23-- filled with potting compound. The type of casting resin or the curing temperature depends on the heat resistance of the insulating body --6-- or the insulation of the power connections - 9,10--.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Another embodiment is shown in FIGS. 4 to 6. The metallic housing --24 - again has a thermal contact surface - 25 -, two annular shoulders - 26, 27 -, the housing wall - -28 -, a clamping lug --29-- with a whole bracket --30-- and a bracket-31-divided by a recess-32-two-part. The shoulder --26-- serves to hold the thermal bimetallic snap disk -33--, the shoulder --27-- and the shoulder --34-- of the insulating body --35-- to hold the circular frame - 36- - which is stamped from one piece with the contact tongue - 37 -.
The contact tongue is in contact with a wart - 38 - with the thermobimetallic snap disk - 33 - and at its end carries the movable switching contact - 39 -.
The fixed switching contact --40-- consists of a partially plated contact bimetal; the plating is labeled - 41 -. The contact surface that comes into effect has essentially the shape of a segment of a circle. The mutual position of the fixed and movable switch contact must then no longer spread within the full angle, as in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, but only within about 30, which is completely sufficient for practice.

In this exemplary embodiment, the adjustment of the contact spacing can be carried out by bending the mating contact, which is known per se. For this purpose, the insulating body --35-- has a hole - the longitudinal direction of which corresponds to the direction of movement of the movable contact. The dimensions and tolerances of the individual parts are chosen so that the contact spacing is initially too large. With the help of a mandrel guided through the bore 46, the fixed switching contact 40 can now be bent down until the

Use of a casting resin of the usual toughness to prevent it from flowing through the hole --46-- into the actual switch room. As a result, a hermetic closure by casting is also possible in this exemplary embodiment.
In Fig. 5 the outer contour --47 - of the potting compound is drawn.
