<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
An

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Control device with switch-on monitoring and for the automatic setting of the balanced feed rate of the tool during the electrochemical processing of metals
The invention relates to the circuit arrangement of a control device with switch-on monitoring and for the automatic setting of the balanced feed rate of the tool during the electrochemical machining of metals. A balanced feed rate of the tool is understood to mean a speed at which the size of the selected reference distance between the electrodes does not change during the electrochemical processing of the metal. This means that the feed rate of the tool is the same as the rate of material removal.
If for any reason the speed of material removal deviates from the feed speed of the tool, the control loop automatically sets a new feed speed of the tool in such a way that the equilibrium state is renewed again, i.e. This means that the new feed rate of the tool is the same as the new rate of material removal. The deviation of the speed of material removal from the feed speed of the tool is determined by means of a sensor for the size difference between the actual distance and the reference distance at suitable, automatically set time intervals.
If the time interval in which the specified deviation is checked is shorter than the period of time during which the tool would traverse the distance of the reference distance, the control loop also provides protection against a short circuit between the tool and the material as a result of its activity.
The currently known switching arrangements of the controller for electrochemical processes are by no means set up for a complex circuit, but only track the effect of a few, in particular the most essential, parameters and accordingly ensure a certain degree of operational capability. A controller is known in which a sensor is integrated into the working circuit, which responds to transition processes in the pre-short circuit interval or during the action of the short circuit and has the task of switching off the power source. This can only be achieved up to a nominal current of approx. 1000 A. With currents above 1000 A, sensitive and, above all, selective protection cannot be carried out.
Other known designs of the regulator make it possible to maintain the distance between the electrodes as a function of the pressure of the electrolyte, a certain distance corresponding to a certain pressure. The disadvantage of this arrangement is that a small local protrusion on the processed material does not have to cause a pressure change and thus also a correction of the distance between the electrodes and thus a short circuit can occur.
The disadvantages mentioned are reduced in the case of the control device with switch-on monitoring and for the automatic setting of the balanced feed rate of the tool in the electrochemical machining of metals according to the invention; The control device has an operating current source, the positive pole of which is connected to the workpiece and the negative pole of which is connected to the tool and the input of which is connected to the first output of a work feed stage, the second output of which is connected to the input of a power controller, the output of which is connected to the input of a displacement actuator
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
is connected, the other input is connected to a reversing stage, a main timing relay with its input and the first output is connected to the work feed stage.
The control device of the above type is characterized according to the invention in that the second output of the main timing relay is connected to the first input of a control stage, the first output of which is connected to the control valve when switched on and the second output of which is connected to an auxiliary timing relay and the third of which is connected When the output is switched off, it is connected to a measuring sensor stage and the second input of which is connected to the output of an auxiliary timing relay, the input of which is connected to the first output of the reversing stage, the second output of which is connected to an auxiliary controller when it is switched on, the output of which is connected to the power controller where the input of the reversing stage is connected to the output of an amplifier,
the input of which is connected to the output of a three-point relay, the first input of which is connected to the holder of the tool and the second input of which is connected to the output of the measuring sensor stage connected to the slide.
The advantage of the control device according to the invention is partly that it perceives the change in each of the parameters influencing the electrochemical process. Another advantage is that it always provides reliable protection against short circuits. In addition to the relatively low production costs, the trouble-free operation of the control device is advantageous.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing as a block circuit of a control device. A control device for short-circuit monitoring and the automatic setting of the balanced feed rate of the tool during electrochemical machining according to the invention is composed, for example, as follows. On
EMI2.1
--2-- and structured: a) The switch-on monitoring in the de-energized state, the duration of which represents the functionless period of the cycle. b) The work function, d. i. the course of the electrochemical process, the duration of which represents the working period of the cycle.
Before starting the electrochemical processing, the three-point relay - 13 - must be set in such a way that it sends out a zero signal when the holder - 14 - of the workpiece is pushed out - 3 - by the reference distance between the electrodes.
Then the control device is activated by means of a switch (not shown). If the correct distance between the electrodes was previously set when the front surface of the tool - 3 - touched the workpiece --2--, the three-point relay --13-- sends the zero signal, which the amplifier-12-in the reversing stage --8-- transmits that in
EMI2.2
which, if the size of the actual distance deviates from the reference distance of the electrodes, is used to switch on the reversing stage - 8 -. The auxiliary time relay - 7 - causes the control stage --6-- to respond after being switched on, which activates the measuring sensor stage - 15 - for the position of the holder - 14--,
also switching the control valve - for the electrolyte pressure in the area between the electrodes and the excitation of the as

Delay element for the mentioned auxiliary time relay - 5 - which is used for switching on, ensures that the area between the electrodes should be filled with the electrolyte during this time before switching on. The
EMI3.1
with main timer relay - 18 -, its time interval of delay representing the working period of the cycle. This period is directly proportional to the size of the selected distance 5 between the electrodes and indirectly proportional to the speed of the working feed and is automatically set together with the feed.
After the end of the working period, the main time relay - 18-- switches off the working feed stage --4--, which then switches off the power relay --17--, whereby the working feed is brought to a standstill and the working current source --1-- is switched off. At the same time, the main timing relay - 18 - also switches off the control stage - 6 - which again switches off the sensor stage --15-- and the electrolyte pressure by means of the control valve --11-- and thus prevents its flow into the area between the electrodes. Then the measuring sensor stage - 15-- releases the holder --14-- of the tool --3--, whereby this tool --3-- is placed on the workpiece --2-- and the three-point relay --13-- then determines whether the actual distance has deviated from the reference distance.
The determination of the real size of the working gap or its deviation from the reference gap takes place, more precisely, as follows: The holder --14-- of the tool --3-- is on its tool-3-
EMI3.2
--141-- provided, - 14-- together with the working tool --3-- pushed down in the fixed slide-16-so that the tool --3-- with its effective surface on the surface of the workpiece to be processed - -2-- comes to rest; the tool is therefore supported against the workpiece --2-- and it sits on the workpiece-2-. The size of this shift is equal to the real gap S that has arisen between tool --3-- and tool --2-- during the working cycle.
During the measuring phase, this gap appears between the end face - 141-- of the holder --14-- and the stop face --161-- of the sliding piece --16--. The three-point relay -13--, which records the amount of displacement of the holder --14-- in the acceptance phase, is set as follows:
As soon as the displacement of the holder - 14 -, which, as already mentioned, moves in the acceptance phase by the real gap between the tool --3-- and the workpiece --2--, the size of the required reference gap or . as soon as this shift deviates from the size of the reference gap by the permissible tolerance,
EMI3.3
via the control stage --6-- to the measuring sensor stage - 15--, which after receiving this signal, i.e. by switching on an electromagnet or the like, the shifting of the tool 3-
EMI3.4
the workpiece --2-- the desired distance S is created.
At the same time, control stage 6 opens the supply of electrolyte and switches on the machining current and work feed via the auxiliary time relay - 5 - and the work feed stage, i.e. H. the advancement of the slider - with the tool 3 engaged therewith, whereby the working cycle begins.
If, however, in the measurement cycle described above, the three-point relay - 13 -, whose insensitivity range exceeds the permissible tolerance, e.g. B.: t indicates 0.001 mm between the actual distance and the reference distance, determines that a deviation has occurred at distance 6, so
EMI3.5
--12-- the reversing stage --8-- on, main time relay --18-- on. The reference distance is set in such a way that when the tool --3-- is placed on the workpiece-2-, the displacement actuator --9-- moves the slider - -16-- in the direction that a correct setting of the distance between the electrodes.
This means that the middle contact of the three-point relay --13-- comes into the area
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the insensitivity and the transmitted voltage signal is transformed into a zero signal, which is transmitted via the amplifier --12 - to the reversing stage - 8 -. The reversing stage - S - comes into its rest state and energizes the auxiliary relay - 7 - via its normally closed contacts, whereupon the described working cycle repeats itself, namely the switching on of the measuring sensor circuit - 15 - and thus also the lifting of the tool 3 -from the workpiece-2-by the reference distance, the start of the electrolyte feed, the switching on of the machining current and the work feed.
The adjustment of the speed of the work feed and the switch-on duration (the persistence in the switched-on state) of the main time relay - 18 -, which determines the length of the actual working interval, is carried out using conventional technical means and is based on the following conditions:
a) The duration of the working interval, in particular the interval during which the
EMI4.1
Feed rate would cover a path equal to the set reference distance if it is assumed that the material removal of the workpiece-2-would be zero, in other words, the feed of the working tool into engagement must come to a standstill earlier before the tool-3-the workpiece -2-at the given feed rate and at
Stopping the material removal, for whatever reason, would touch.
b) If, after the end of the work interval, a deviation of the actual distance from the reference distance was determined in the measuring interval by means of the three-point relay - 13 -, the
Feed rate can be set so that this deviation in the subsequent
Work interval does not arise, d. H. the switch-on duration of the time relay --18-- must be adjusted so that it is indirectly proportional to the speed of the work feed so that the condition listed under a) is met.
In practice, this adjustment takes place as follows: If, for example, the measured
Distance was greater than the reference distance, this means that the feed speed was not sufficient during the expired work interval. During the measuring interval, a signal from the reversing stage --8-- must therefore be fed to the shift actuator -9- and the auxiliary controller --10-- at the same time.
The displacement actuator -9-moves the slide -16- downwards until there is a gap between the end face -141-and the stop face -161-which is equal to the reference distance. At the same time as the displacement actuator -9-receives a signal during the same time, the auxiliary controller -10- in which, e.g. B. by a servomotor, which is rotated the speed of the feed motor monitoring potentiometer. In the example given, where the real gap was larger, the potentiometer is now adjusted in such a way that the speed of the feed motor is regulated to a higher value, so that the feed is accelerated.
In proportion to the increase in the feed speed, the auxiliary controller -10-simultaneously reduces the set switch-on duration of the time relay --18-- (this is indicated by a dash-dotted line in the drawing). If the feed rate is higher in the following work interval, the duration of this interval must be shortened in connection with the condition listed under a).
The adjustment of the size of the reference distance is indicated by the three-point relay - 13 - which sends out a zero signal as soon as the reference distance is reached, which causes the signals fed to the shift actuator - 9 - and the auxiliary controller --10 - to be sent stop and another work interval begins. In this way the tool --3-- is secured against damage from short circuits. Likewise, the device is protected against mechanical damage by feed pressures, which can come into play when z. B. non-conductive inclusions occur on the surface to be processed or if the electrolytic dissolving capacity of individual parts of the surface to be processed is unequal.
