Der ausserhalb dos Kessels angeordnete Querkanal kann natürlich auch an der Vorderwand angebracht sein.
Verbindet man den Blechmantel der Querkanäle durch Schrauben oder in anderer Weise lösbar mit der Kesselwand, so lassen sich die Querkanäle, wie in den Fig. 3 und 7 noch näher angedeutet, nach Lösung der Verbindung mit dem Kessel selbst bei beschränktem Raume (Fig. 3) mittels Flaschenzuges leicht abnehmen, so dass die ganze Kesselwand behufs Vornahme einer gründlichen äusseren Untersuchung und Reinigung des Kessels freigelegt ist. Für den-gewöhnlichen Betrieb genügt bekanntlich die Reinigung des Rohrsystemes von einer Seite aus vollkommen. Die Revision und Reparatur der inneren Wandung der Querkanäle wird schon durch Abnahme der Platten oder Öffnung der Türen 8 bzw. 4 ermöglicht.
Der Hauptstrom der Feuergase durchzieht auch hier die Rohrbündel in einem einzigen Zuge, indessen können auch an einzelnen Stellen der Rohrbündel Feuergase in die Züge treten.
Ferner können die Querkanäle mit Vorrichtungen zur Einführung frischer oder vorgewärmter Luft und von Feuergasen aus dem Feuerraume über dem Roste versehen sein, um eine Nachverbrennung zu erzielen.
