Automatic shut-off device in the event of pipe bursts.
Shut-off and reporting devices in the event of pipe bursts, in which a lock is triggered by an electromagnet, which releases a lever that closes a valve as a result of a drop weight attached to it, are known. However, the known arrangements are such that the device does not automatically reset itself. In the apparatus according to the present invention, however, all the levers forming the locking mechanism automatically return to their original position, so that the apparatus is always ready for use.
In the drawing, an example embodiment of the shut-off device is shown. The same consists essentially of a locking mechanism attached to a plate a, the electromagnet b with an associated armature formed from flat iron. The latter is connected to the lever d, which is rotatably mounted about pin e and toothed at one end, by a hinge-like bolt. circuit switched on. As soon as the knee lever m falls. the aforementioned feathers come apart. thereby breaking the above circuit.
The operation of the shut-off device is as follows: With the contact manometer coming into effect when the ear breaks, the electromagnet b is excited; this pulls the armature and thus also the lever d. This releases the lever e, which now falls down as a result of the weight g, strikes the lever A and lifts its toothed part, thereby triggering the knee hel) el i. At this moment the angle lever m loaded with a weight o overcomes the counterweight of the toggle lever i, falls down and closes the valve that shuts off the line by means of a lever lock.
The lever i immediately returns to its starting position as a result of the attached weight and is held in place by the lever 11 with a spring. Likewise, the lever e through the above

The armature, possibly still attracted by residual magnetism, is the circular end of lever e. At the same time the falling toggle lever interrupts the current actuating the electromagnet b by means of the device fut.
In order to make damage to the pipeline also noticeable at the same time, the falling toggle lever can actuate any known contact device, which in turn closes a circuit leading to an alarm bell or similar signaling device. With the handle 1) attached to the toggle lever m, the valve is opened again after the broken pipe has been eliminated and the toggle lever m is also returned to its original position. Since all levers are automatically returned by the device described above, the apparatus is completely ready for operation again.
