<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Hollow body, especially a boat hull or container
EMI1.1

Accordingly, the invention is based on the object of eliminating the cited deficiencies and of creating a hollow body, in particular a boat hull or container, which with sufficient
Strength is corrosion- and acid-resistant as well as weather-resistant and has a lower weight than the comparable previous designs.
Based on a hollow body of the type described at the outset, this object is achieved according to the invention in that the cladding is designed in a manner known per se as a plastic shell which is at least partially prefabricated and which rests on one side of the metal frame and with it by the frame parts attached from the other side enclosing and at the
Plastic shell adhesive plastic covers is positively connected. The production of the supporting metal frame, which determines the shape of the hollow body, is possible without difficulty and does not require any special molding tools. The plastic tray is also easy to manufacture in a known manner; it can optionally also be composed of plastic sheets.
Finally, the formation of the plastic covers does not present any difficulties. They can be prefabricated and then glued, welded or otherwise firmly connected to the plastic shell. But it is also possible to form these covers only during assembly by molding glass fiber reinforced plastic resin around the frame parts, so z. B. is spatula or sprayed on. By connecting the plastic shell to the supporting metal frame, particularly good strength properties of the hollow body produced are achieved without the plastic shell itself having to have too great a wall thickness and thus too much weight.
The result, especially in the case of larger dimensions, is a hollow body which, due to the supporting structure, is sufficiently stable or solid, but despite the metal structure, has a lower weight than previous hollow bodies made of solid plastic. Both the favorable material properties of the plastic and the high strength of the supporting metal frame come into their own and boat hulls with a length of well over 15 m can now be produced or containers or the like with large dimensions.
The plastic covers can form a coherent layer over the entire hollow body wall in a manner known per se, so that the cladding then consists of two layers which, however, are connected to one another over their entire surface. As is known per se, the metal framework is preferably formed from hollow profiles, preferably tubes, in order to further reduce the weight while providing sufficient strength.
In the drawings, the subject matter of the invention is shown, for example, u. Between FIG. 1, a part of a hollow body forming a boat hull is shown in a diagram, and FIG. 2 shows a hollow body in the form of a container in cross section.
The boat hull according to Fig. 1 consists of a supporting metal frame, which is composed of square steel tubes --l--, and a cladding - 2--, which is formed by a prefabricated plastic shell. The plastic shell --2-- rests on the outside of the metal frame and is attached to it by covers --3-- made of glass fiber reinforced synthetic resin, which surround the square tubes - l - and are attached to the shell - 2-- firmly adhere, form-fitting connected
When the container, for. B. Silo, according to Fig. 2, the prefabricated plastic shell --2-- forms the inner skin of the container. The supporting structure consists of round steel tubes - la - which therefore rest against the outside of the plastic shell-2. The covers-3a-form an outer skin which is connected over the entire hollow body wall and thus also reinforces the entire hollow body. The covers - 3a - can be produced by spraying on plastic resin with added glass fiber chaff.
