<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Thermal insulating building material
The invention relates to a heat-insulating building material and structural elements made therefrom. It is already known to use polystyrene alone in the form of spheres for the production of foam bodies, such as. B. plates and blocks, but this required the use of steam and pressure, binders were not used.
Furthermore, it is already known in appropriately loosely laid organically bound wood wool panels
Pour in the finest grain polystyrene with incorporated blowing agents and then subject the plate to one of the usual treatments to activate the foaming or instead of pouring in the polystyrene, inject it in the form of a mixture of urea resins with blowing agents or blow in the foam mass based on polyurethane. Here, pre-expanded plastic particles in a water-moist state can also be inside the respective
Wood wool body can be foamed by the influence of high frequency electricity.
These procedures are far too expensive in practice, so that they could not be naturalized.
According to the invention, a heat-insulating building material consisting of pre-expanded balls or flakes of polystyrene in grain sizes of about 1 to 15 mm and granular material, such as. B. sand or cement, made much easier and cheaper that the balls or flakes are filled with foam and the building material additions of longer wood particles, such. B. wood wool or wood shavings contains. This eliminates the need for further foaming, with all its disadvantages of expensive and complicated production.
The invention further relates to particularly favorable mixing ratios for the building material composed according to the invention.
Two exemplary embodiments of a building material designed according to the invention are described below:
EXAMPLE 1: 0.9 to 1.4 parts by weight of pre-expanded polystyrene in the form of spheres or flakes (e.g. from shredded waste of foam bodies) with a density of 8 to 30 kg and a grain diameter of about 1 to 15 mm with about 4 to 5 parts by weight of wood wool or wood shavings, half a volume of a granular material, such as. B. sand, trass, stone powder, powdered lime, slime chalk with a grain size of 0.1 to 0.4 mm, 20 to 25 parts by weight of cement and a solution of 1 kg of calcium chloride in 10 to 201 water. Any suitable material, such as e.g.
B. the material known under the trade name "Planasit B 10" can be used, with 0.3 to 1.0 parts by weight of the air-entraining agent being added to 100 parts by weight of cement. Fast binders can also be added, such as B. the materials known under the trade name "Planasit N 30", u. between 0.5 and 3% of the weight of the added cement. From this mixture, building materials and components such as building blocks, panels or the like are produced, the setting time is about four to seven days before they can be transported.
Example 2: Instead of the amount given in Example 1, 0.9 to 1.5 parts by weight of pre-expanded polystyrene in the form of balls or flakes of the type mentioned in Example 1 are mixed with about 1/2 part by weight of wood wool or wood shavings, about 4 parts by weight of cement and a small amount

of cement paint and a solution of 1 kg of calcium chloride mixed in 10 to 25 liters of water. Any suitable material, such as e.g.
B. the material known under the trade name "Planasit N 30" can be used, u. in an amount of 0.5 to 3% by weight, at most about 3% by weight of FPM binding agent of cement weight and 0.3 to 1% by weight of "Planasit P 10" can be added.
Depending on the desired purpose, the individual additives can be changed in terms of both the amount and the material, u. between normal Portland cement or early high strength, blast furnace or iron Portland cement can be used. As air entraining agents, trass or the like, mixed oils and the like can be used. similar Materials instead of those mentioned in the exemplary embodiments.
