Klasse : 8 c 6/04 ÖSTERREICHISCHES PATENTAMT
Int. CI. : D 06 l Flüssiges, Aktivsauerstoff enthaltendes Konzentrat mit grenzflächenaktiven Eigenschaften
EMI1.1
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Erfindungsgemäss sind bevorzugt Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel
EMI2.1

-0/0 vorliegen.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Class: 8 c 6/04 AUSTRIAN PATENT OFFICE
Int. CI. : D 06 l Liquid concentrate containing active oxygen with surface-active properties
EMI1.1
% By weight of HH202 can also be wholly or partly in the form of its adducts dissolved in water or suspended in it with urea, melamine, alkali borates, alkali ortho or polyphosphates or the like, the concentration of any undissolved HO compounds in the Can range from 3 to 40, preferably from 10 to 25% by weight.
It is known that it is difficult to keep the active oxygen contained in liquid, aqueous concentrates of per compounds, especially hydrogen peroxide or its adducts, so stable in the presence of surfactants that the concentrates can be stored, for example, in commercial laundries, hairdressers or even in stores Have a sufficient shelf life for household purposes or for commercial use. This is related to the fact that the majority of the known surfactants have the tendency to cause the premature splitting off of the active oxygen, while only a few contrary statements have been made. Stabilizers from the group of non-surfactants have been described in large numbers (cf. W. Machu: "DasWasserstoffperoxyd und die Perverbindungen", 2nd edition, Vienna [1951], pp. 195-208).
In addition to inorganic and organic acids, such as ortho or polyphosphoric acids, tannic acids, citric acid, barbituric acid, ascorbic acids and the like. a. and acid salts, such as acid sodium pyrophosphate, numerous other organic compounds are mentioned, of which only acetphenetidine, acetanilide or 8-oxyquinoline should be mentioned here.
However, many of the stabilizers that have become known, such as magnesium salts (especially magnesium silicates, alkali pyro- or polyphosphates, alkali stannates, alkali silicates, etc.) are used primarily to regulate the release of oxygen in dilute and ready-to-use washing and bleaching liquors and therefore to prevent fiber damage during washing and bleaching processes most known stabilizers except for the acids mentioned, the acidic salts and a few organic compounds are unsuitable for the production of liquid, storage-stable concentrates containing active oxygen.
However, it is an important technical problem to stabilize concentrates with peroxide contents which, based on hydrogen peroxide, are at least 3% by weight, but can also have significantly higher contents of active oxygen, so that they are stable in storage , can be stored ready for use in industry and trade for several days or even weeks and without the risk of decomposition.
It has now been found that capillary-active amine oxides with stabilizer properties can be used in which the amine oxide nitrogen is on an aliphatic radical (amine oxide radical) linked ethereally to the rest of the molecule, with amine oxide nitrogen and ether oxygen or. Thioether sulfur atom are separated from one another by at least 3 carbon atoms. Glycol or polyglycol ether groups can be located between the hydrophobic part of the molecule and the amine oxide residue.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to the invention, compounds of the general formula are preferred
EMI2.1
to use.
In this formula, R is a saturated higher alkyl radical having 6-20 carbon atoms, X is an oxygen or sulfur atom, R is an ethylene, propylene or oxypropylene radical, n is an integer from 0 to 18, preferably from 0 to 10, and R g a radical optionally containing free hydroxyl groups with at least 3, preferably with 3 or 4 carbon atoms, R ″ and R 5 lower saturated alkyl or alkylol radicals with at most 5, preferably with at most 3 carbon atoms.
The ether oxygen atom or thioether sulfur atom present in the capillary-active amine oxides to be used according to the invention improves the solubility of the products, which is further improved by any glycol or polyglycol ether residues that may be present. For this reason, the amine oxides to be used according to the invention can contain significantly more than 24 carbon atoms; the number of at most 24 carbon atoms mentioned at the beginning refers to aminoxy-
EMI2.2
Better solubility of the compounds, but can also be seen in a better stabilizer effect.
If the active oxygen is present as H 2 O 2, the upper limit of the HO content of the concentrates is preferably a content of 60% by weight HO.
EMI2.3
oxides have a particularly pronounced stabilizing effect, whereby the reaction can be more acidic (PH e.g. from 2 to 4) or less acidic (PH = e.g. from 4 to 6.8). A special property of the stabilizers according to the invention can be seen in the fact that they enable stabilization in the not too strongly alkaline medium (PH = 7, 2-9) over the periods of a few days to several weeks usually required in practice. If the storage period is less demanding, as is the case, for example, in the laundry industry, the pH value can be adjusted to a somewhat more alkaline level (for example up to about 10).
With increasing alkalinity, the shelf life of the concentrates decreases, so that pH values above 10.5 are generally not appropriate.
It is possible and often advisable to store the concentrates in the weakly acidic, neutral or weakly alkaline range and, when in use, to set the desired higher pH value by adding the appropriate alkaline compounds.
The known inorganic or organic alkalis and especially the alkaline salts, as they are often used in bleaching and washing, are used to establish an alkaline reaction. These include, for example, the carbonates, bicarbonates, ortho-, pyro- and polyphosphates, in particular tripolyphosphates, borates, silicates, etc. of the alkalis. If the active oxygen is used in the form of perhydrates of the abovementioned inorganic salts, products with an alkaline reaction are usually present in sufficient quantities. Sometimes it is also advisable to add acidic substances to bring the pH value below 9. For this purpose, especially when using condensed phosphates, the weakly acidic reacting glassy polyphosphates of the Graham salt type or the free acids corresponding to the condensed phosphates have proven themselves.
If it is necessary to set pH values in the acidic range, non-reducing, inorganic or organic acids or even acidic salts are used. Examples include phosphoric acid and the polyphosphoric acids just mentioned, but also sulfuric acid, amidosulfonic acid, urea-phosphoric acid compounds, benzoic acid, citric acid, malonic acid, tartaric acid, ascorbic acids, etc., some of which are already known as oxygen stabilizers and, if necessary, a reduction in the amount of amine oxides or their replacement by other surfactants is permitted.
The amount of amine oxides used as stabilizers can vary within wide limits. It is about 2-40% by weight, preferably 5-25% by weight, based on the total concentrate. The amine oxides are generally present in amounts of at least 10% by weight, based on the H2O2 present in the free or bound state. However, they can also be present in amounts of up to 200% by weight, preferably in amounts of 30 to 100% by weight.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In addition, the surface-active amine oxides are also valuable surfactants which, depending on the structure of the alkyl chains, have washing or wetting effects. In the present case, these properties of the higher molecular weight amine oxides, which are known per se, allow the production of washing and bleaching concentrates containing compounds containing active oxygen, especially hydrogen peroxide or its adducts with urea, melamine. Alkali borates, -orthophosphates, -polyphosphaie or similar. Most of the known stabilizers for concentrates of this type lack the surface-active properties, which in turn can only be achieved by adding surfactants which, as a rule, counteract the stabilization.
The following examples are intended to explain the invention in more detail. Commercial HO of technical quality was used to manufacture the preparations.
EMI3.1
Concentrates and concentrates composed in an analogous manner but without amine oxide (marked with capital letters) were stored for 6 weeks in colorless polyethylene bottles at room temperature in the laboratory in such a way that daylight was admitted, but direct sunlight was avoided. The active oxygen levels were measured at various intervals. The compositions of the concentrates examined and the measured active oxygen losses are given in the table.

It signifies considerable technical progress that liquid concentrates containing active oxygen can be stabilized very effectively with the aid of the amine oxides in a more or less acidic, neutral or slightly alkaline medium. Many work processes, such as B. the cleaning and bleaching of textiles, the bleaching of human hair, the fixing of deformed hair and other cosmetic treatments can be carried out directly with such concentrates without the need for neutralization processes.
However, it also means a technical advance that acidic per-concentrates with substantial surfactant contents can be stored for weeks and months and, if necessary, brought to the desired pH value by adding alkalis or alkaline compounds and these concentrates

then can consume.
It is known and is not to be claimed here to produce concentrated detergent preparations with minor additions of water or alcohol and the use of amine oxides with higher molecular weight alkyl radicals. Such concentrated detergents can also contain bleaching components such as percarbonates or perborates. The process according to the invention, however, is directed to the production of liquid concentrates containing active oxygen using amine oxides of the type described in more detail and is not affected by the aforementioned process.
The amine oxides to be used according to the invention, in particular the amine oxide mixture of the preceding examples, can be used to produce the preparations described in the following examples.
