<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
lang.

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Device for monitoring the tightness of gas pipes
To prevent the escape of unburned gas from gas pipes, especially at the
Burning point, safety devices created to prevent the escape of unburned gas. Especially with bottled gas, but also with town and natural gas, however, there is a risk of unburned gas escaping in the line upstream of the combustion point through both leaky pipes and - in the case of bottled gas - through leaky connections of the pipeline and fittings to the gas cylinder. The task of the invention is to prevent the respective burning point from being put into operation when the supply line is leaky.
It has already been known to control the electrical circuit of a gas shut-off device as a function of the flame point, but in all cases it is a switching element on the gas device, but not the remote control of the main shut-off device.
With bottled gas in particular, the section between the main shut-off device and the relevant gas device (e.g. gas stove) is particularly at risk for the outflow at leaking points, as there are leaks immediately after the main shut-off device due to poor connection of the gas cylinder - for example by the user himself occur frequently, with the leakage of gas being caused by some safety device on the gas appliance, e.g. B. stove, is not recoverable.
According to the invention, the gas combustion point is assigned a switching element (monitoring valve) which, in the area of its switching movement, has two electrical contacts that are in the control circuits of the electrical switching device of the main shut-off device (wall tap, cylinder valve) and which, depending on the position of the monitoring valve, are alternately closed, whereby the one contact is assigned to the circuit for closing and the second contact is assigned to the circuit for opening the main shut-off device.
In order to prevent restarting of the burner when the supply line is leaking, an interrupting contact actuated by the pressure in the gas supply line to the monitoring valve is interposed in the electrical control circuit of the switching device of the main shut-off element. This break contact can expediently control an optical or acoustic signaling device in a manner known per se. Further characteristics of the invention reside in the special design and possible attachment of the switching device described for the main shut-off element.
In the drawings, an embodiment of the device is shown schematically in Fig. 1, Fig. 2 shows a plug-in regulator for bottled gas with an electrical control device.
According to Fig. 1, the known cylinder valve 1 with the outlet nozzle 2 is screwed onto the gas cylinder F, to which the gas supply line 3 is to be tightly connected with the interposition of the pressure regulator 4, which connection is usually to be carried out by the owner of the system when the cylinder F is replaced and therefore is a major cause of leakage. In order to eliminate this source of danger, according to the invention, the cylinder valve 1 is electrically controlled by an electrical control device depending on the position of the monitoring valve of the ignition fuse at the combustion point so that when the monitoring valve is closed, the cylinder valve 1 is also closed and, when the monitoring valve is open, the cylinder valve 1 is electrically remote controlled opens automatically.
In Fig. 1 a known monitoring valve 5 is shown with an approximately thermoelectric ignition fuse, but the design and the system of the ignition fuse for the invention is without concern
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
long. In the example shown in Fig. 1, the manually controlled push button 6 of the ignition fuse 5 carries a contact blade 6a, which lies between two electrical contacts 7 and 8 and is constantly pressed against the upper contact 7 by the push button spring in the rest position. Via contact 7, an electrical line 7a leads from a power source B to the positive pole of an electric motor 9, the shaft 10 of which is fed into the screw connection 13 of the main valve 1, e.g. via a gear drive 11, 12. B. engages by means of a square 18.
The negative pole of the power source and the electric motor 9 is grounded. A line 8a leads from the electrical contact 8 to a second positive pole of the electric motor, between which two poles a switching device known per se is installed, which on the one hand automatically switches off the motor 9 after the valve 1 has reached the open position and reverses its polarity in order to switch it to the next power cycle to let the contact 7 rotate again in the wrong direction. This polarity reversal and disconnection device of the electric motor, known per se, does not form the subject of this invention.
This device initially ensures that when the monitoring valve 5 is closed, the main valve 1 of the gas cylinder is also closed, so that, for example, even if the gas supply line 3 is leaky, no gas can flow out at night.
Should and the gas supply line 3, be it before or after the pressure regulator 4, leak, the unburned gas in the supply line from the bottle to the combustion point will escape, whereby the pressure in the gas supply line 3 drops. This pressure drop is used to produce a further safety device in that an interrupter contact 14, which is controlled as a function of the pressure in the supply line 3, is interposed in the electrical circuit 8a of the electric motor 9. For this purpose, according to FIG. 1, a manometer 15 is connected to the pressure line 3, the membrane of which keeps the interrupter contact 14 closed at normal gas pressure in the line 3.
If, however, the gas pressure in the gas supply line 3 falls due to leaks from the main shut-off element 1 to the combustion point, the interruption contact 14 is opened by the membrane of the pressure gauge 15 and the electrical circuit of the control motor 9 is interrupted.
This ensures that even when the monitoring valve 5 is opened to start up the combustion point, no gas can flow through the main shut-off device 1, i.e. H. the burning point cannot be put into operation if the line is leaking. In order to indicate this switching state of the interruption contact 14 to the user of the system, one lamella 14a of the interruption contact 14 is designed as a lever, which can be pivoted about the axis 14b and which, when the contact 14 is interrupted, provides a contact 16 of an electrical circuit for an acoustic circuit or the optical signaling device 17 closes, whereby the leak in the gas supply line and thus the impossibility of starting up the burning point is indicated.
EMI2.1
by locating and repairing the leaky screw cap of the pressure regulator's remaining outflow point of the unburnt gas, whereupon the circuit for the control motor 9 is now closed by closing the break contact 14 by hand and by opening the monitoring valve 5, which opens the rotary knob 13 of the main valve 1 by rotating it and thus the system can be put back into operation.
Instead of the electric motor 10 for rotating the shut-off element 1, an electromagnet can naturally also be used for the stroke of a main control valve, for example.
In the case of bottled gas, bottles with a simple rotary valve (Fig. 1) or those with valves based on the non-return principle are used, which are controlled through the plug-on regulator by means of the known rotary knob circuit (Fig. 2). In both cases, the electrical control device. d. H. the motor 9 with its drive units 11, 12 or the aforementioned electromagnet is expediently detachably fastened in a structural unit on the rotary knob 13 or slip-on controller (Fig. 2) by being built on brackets 19, with these being placed on the main valve 1, approximately one square 18 of the last gear 12 engages in the screw head 13 to be provided with a square hole.
In the case of main shut-off devices 1, which cannot be opened and closed by twisting, but by simple valve lift, a simple electromagnet can act in place of the electric motor 9, as described, which controls the lifting movement of the valve. In all cases, with main shut-off devices according to FIG. 1, the electrical controls can be detachably attached to the main valve 1 as described, while with main shut-off devices according to FIG. 2, these can also be rigidly connected to the controller.
The device described therefore initially ensures that when the monitoring valve 5 is closed, the main shut-off element 1 of the gas supply line concerned is always closed
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
and the latter is automatically opened when the monitoring valve 5 is opened when the supply line 3 from the main shut-off device 1 to the combustion point is tight. However, if this supply line contains a leak (whereby the trapped gas pressure in this line section decreases over time.
EMI3.1
place is opened. This fact is also indicated by the signaling device 17 (either a red light on the burning point or a buzzer or the like) to the user of the burning point.
Although this pressure gauge contact 14 cannot prevent the small amount of gas enclosed in the supply line 3 from flowing out into the room, this contact 14 prevents further gas from leaking out in the gas supply line 3 when the burner is switched on again if there is a leak the cylinder F or the city and natural gas pipeline flows through the main shut-off device 1.
The mode of operation of the device results from the previous illustration: To start up the combustion point, the valve plug of the combustion point and, at the same time, the ignition fuse 5 are opened. As a result, the electrical circuit via the contacts 6a, 8 for the control motor 9 or
Electromagnet on the main shut-off element 1 closed when the membrane contact 14 is closed, the motor is set in circulation or the electromagnet energizes and thereby opens the main shut-off element 1, whereby gas flows via the pressure regulator 4 for bottled gas or through the main shut-off element 1 for town and natural gas through the supply line 3 to the combustion point and is inflamed. If the burning point is extinguished either by closing the cock or by draft, overflowing cooking vessels or the like and thus automatically closes the monitoring valve 5, the electric control motor 9 or the electromagnet is excited via the contact 7 and the electric current circuit 7a and the main shut-off device 1 is closed .
However, its reopening can only take place as long as the interruption contact 14 at the pressure gauge 15 is closed, ie. 11. the supply line 3 is reliably tight. In the event of a leak in this supply line at any point, however, the electrical control circuit for opening the main valve 1 at contact 14 is interrupted, thereby preventing the main valve from opening.
The electrical switching device (electric motor 9 or electromagnet, depending on the construction of the main shut-off element 1) is either detachably attached to the main shut-off element as a structural unit or rigidly connected to it.
The device is just as reliable as it is cheap and should primarily contribute to avoiding accidents in the gas sector as much as possible or making them impossible, in order to be able to supply gas energy to a greater extent to the economy.
