conveyor trough 4, which leads in the direction of arrow 5 to the processing machines. The box 6 at the beginning of the conveyor chute 4 can contain the tensioning device or also the drive for the chute. The supporting structure of the channel 4 contains a pipe 7 as an essential element in a known manner. The conveyor chain with arched, recessed supporting webs 8 is only indicated in FIG. 1, since it is not the subject of this invention.
An open receiving trough 9, the bottom of which is formed by one or more obliquely ascending endless conveyors 10, is used for temporarily receiving large quantities of wood and for feeding the conveyor trough 4. The trough 9 has inclined side walls 11 and an armored rear wall 12, so large quantities of wood can be tipped quickly into the trough 9 without any special precautionary measures, for example from a wagon 13 indicated in FIG. The conveyor 10 rises in such a way that only part of the wood thrown in is conveyed upwards in the direction of arrow 14, while other pieces of wood remain behind and possibly slide back.
This achieves a metering of the billet wood that is passed over the upper deflecting end 15 of the conveyor 10
EMI2.1
Conveyor 10, chain wheels or the like, a gear 17 and the motor 18 are provided at the upper end 15. The speed can be changed, for example, in a ratio of 1: 2, since the sliding ratios of the wooden billets depend on the wood moisture, the weather and other circumstances. The supporting surface of the conveyor 10 is indicated in FIG. 2 by elongated strips 19 which are attached to the links of the conveyor chains 21.
It is possible to load the receiving trough 9 with grippers or from clearing vehicles. In such cases, not only wood waste and pieces of bark but also stones and the like get. like between

arise, deflection at the upper end 15 is stretched again. Foreign bodies can be trapped between the strips 19 and cause malfunctions.
To avoid this, the device according to FIGS. 3 - 9 is designed so that elongated profile supports 27 of the cross conveyor have supporting surfaces 24 which come to lie at the level of the pitch circle of the chain wheels when the chains run over the chain wheels, so that they deviate only insignificantly from tangents to the pitch circle of the chain wheels of the conveyor chains. If the gaps between the wings are placed exactly on the pitch circle of the chain deflection, the gap width in the deflection of the conveyor remains just as large as in the straight strand. The invention approaches this ideal case and meets all practical requirements.
Two plates 28 of a chain link are connected by a web 29 which has a central bore 30. The tabs and web can be made from one piece, as shown, but can also be welded together from three pieces. The angle piece 26, which serves to hold the load-bearing surface 24 of the conveyor 10 at the level of the chain pitch circle 32, is attached to the web 29 by means of a pivot pin connection 31. Wide and narrow chain links interlock as shown in FIG. 6 and are connected to one another in an articulated manner by bushings 33 and bolts 34. The recesses for this in the tabs 28 can be elongated holes in a known manner according to FIG. Chain wheels 35 act on the bushings 33 or rollers (not shown).
A profile support 27 extends between two opposite angle pieces 26, the angle profile of which is welded to the underside of the plate 36 with the open side facing up. A carrier of great flexural strength is thereby obtained. The underside of the profile support 27 is provided with a U-shaped slider 37 at several points. At the edges, the conveyor 10 has support rollers 38 which are guided on the carriers 39. The sliders 37, on the other hand, only come into contact with the supports 39 when the profile supports 27 are bent more.
