Abstract
The shelf tree is an invention in which a wooden shelf with or without bark is produced by four cuts through a raw tree trunk of indefinite length, diameter and type of wood, in particular for the storage of compact discs. The cuts through the tree are made in such a way that the wood technological property of "swelling and shrinking" is prevented. Furthermore, the inside of the shelf can be machined before assembling the individual parts. The shelf can be conical or non-conical. The finished shelf resembles a tangentially cut tree trunk that has been hollowed out for the storage space of the items to be stored. The raw tree trunk is cut along a tangential cut (I-I). Two further side sections (1, 3) and a middle section (2) of the tree trunk are cut by two further tangential cuts (II-II, III-III), which run approximately perpendicular to the first cutting surface. The shelf cavity for the goods to be stored is cut out of the middle part (2). The two side parts (1, 3) are joined and connected again to the middle section (2) at the respective cut surfaces, for example with screws and / or wood glue .

The invention relates to a shelf made of a "raw" tree trunk - indefinite in terms of length, diameter and type of wood - and is manufactured in particular for the storage of compact discs (in particular music CDs). Thanks to the stepless adjustment of the compartments (4), the shelf can be used for various objects for storage (e.g. books, CD-Rom, etc.). The finished shelf resembles a tree trunk cut tangentially on one side (FIG. 1).
"Raw" refers to the fact that the tree is neither debarked nor cut in the sawmill. The tree can therefore be used directly as a raw material for the shelf described here after it has been felled, sorted and dried until it is ready for use.
So far, wooden shelves have been made from wooden boards. The raw wood went through the conventional processing steps of sawmill and carpentry. This invention makes it possible, with 4 cuts (I - IV), to produce two side parts (1) and (3) and a middle part (2) for a shelf (FIGS. 2 and 3) through a raw tree trunk. The assembly of these parts is necessary as a final step to complete it.
Section I-1 (Figure 1 or 2) is carried out in the form of a tangential cut vertically or slightly obliquely and makes the grain on the front of the shelf visible. Sections 11-11 and 111-111 (FIG. 2) enable section IV-IV (FIG. 4) to take out the space for storing the goods to be stored.
Furthermore, the cuts through the tree have the effect that the "swelling and shrinking" of wood is prevented when the moisture in use changes. The invention is also very natural, easily recyclable and highly environmentally friendly.
The side parts (1) and (3) (Figure 3) are provided with holes (5) for fan carriers (6) before being joined together. The compartments (4) can be made from a wide variety of materials. The fan carriers can also be simple strips.
The fan carriers can also be designed as an insert made of wood or other materials (FIG. 6). The compartments can also be made from a wide variety of materials.
With at least one screw and / or with a binding agent (approx.: Hot glue) the 3 individual parts are made into the finished shelf.
The shelf can also with individual additional components, such as cross bars (7)

In order to achieve better stability of the shelf, it can be attached to a sock-like base. This lower part is made of wood or other suitable materials. The lower part) can be visible. If the lower part 8 is not visible, it represents a rigid connection between the shelf and the floor and is covered by the trunk circumference.
The shelf can be designed with or without bark (= bark) on the tree trunk.
All special equipment that allows individual design options, however, will be designed differently for commercial use in a customer-oriented manner.
Depending on the height of the measuring point on the tree trunk, trees have different diameters (decreasing upwards). The shelf therefore has a conical shape, even if only to a very small extent. By working the tree trunk on a "lathe" the conical shape can be removed from the shelf. The shelf then still looks like a tree trunk without bark. Unless a bark is attached again.
