Elektrische Nebenuhr

Electric slave clock
The invention relates to a slave clock which is driven by electrical impulses and has a minute hand that moves in leaps and bounds and has a second hand that is controlled by a synchronous motor. In order to ensure that the second hand runs synchronously with the clock pulse even with fluctuations in the mains frequency, the second hand is given an advance, which is then corrected by stopping the second hand in the "60 second" position until the next minute jump. This stopping of the pointer is achieved either by a slip clutch when the motor is running (as with older versions) or by switching off the motor voltage.
In contrast to a known construction of the last-mentioned type, the duration of the coasting of the synchronous motor plays no role in the invention, even with only a short interruption, during which there would otherwise be the risk of it running through. The pulse duration of the master clock, which is particularly important in existing clock systems, e.g. B. in railway systems, is very short, remains with the invention without disadvantageous effect on the operational safety, without any adjustment or other precaution would have to be made.
According to the invention, the switching off and switching on of the motor voltage is achieved by alternately actuating two changeover switches located in series in the motor circuit. The switch 1 is switched from line 3 to 4 by synchronous motor 5, which makes the second hand complete a full revolution in less than a minute, when the second hand reaches its end position, whereby the motor switches itself off and remains de-energized until the Changeover switch 2 - actuated by the jump of the slave clock mechanism on the occasion of the master clock pulse - is switched from line 3 to 4. After this time correction, which has now taken place, the motor continues to drive the second hand until the voltage is switched off again by switching switch 1 from 4 to 3 after it has reached its end position.
By flipping the switch 2 - through the minute jump of the slave clockwork - from 4 to 3 the game starts again.
