Extrem flinke, strombegrenzende Niederspannungs -Hochleistungs -Sicherung

Extremely fast, current-limiting, low-voltage, high-performance fuse
The invention relates to extremely fast and current-limiting high-performance fuses for low voltage, the fusible conductors of which are embedded in a granular extinguishing agent and have constrictions in series and possibly parallel.
The invention has for its object to provide a protection of very temperature and voltage sensitive devices such. B. semiconductor rectifiers to create suitable fuse.
Fuses for protecting semiconductor rectifier systems are already known. However, these fuses are either only suitable for small voltages below 100 V or cause overvoltages or do not limit the forward current strongly enough so that the permissible current time integral f i2 dt or the permissible current peak of the system to be protected is exceeded.
The invention eliminates these disadvantages, which are still present to a greater or lesser extent in the known fuses, in that the number, design and dimensioning of the constrictions of the ribbon-shaped fusible conductor are made in such a way that the voltage on the fuse jumps to at least the maximum value after the melting time has expired the driving voltage rises, but at most reaches a voltage value that is 20% higher, and that the level of the forward current does not exceed the level of the melting current.
This is achieved by taking the dimensions of the cross-sections of the narrow points of the ribbon-shaped fusible conductor so that the length of a narrow point is approximately equal to its width, and that the ratio of the width of the narrow point to the thickness of the fusible conductor is at least 5, at most 10 where the strength of the active fusible conductor is the same over its entire length. The transition from a narrow point to the full cross-section should take place at an angle of at most 250 in relation to a line perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the fusible conductor.
With this design, a particularly steep voltage increase of around 3V / ps without overvoltages is achieved with a minimum of current heat losses.

ter form diagrams with the current and voltage curves i = f (t), u = f (t) of two fuses during the switch-off process. The dash-dotted curves correspond to a known, the strongly drawn-out curve shape of the embodiment according to the invention, with i denoting the short-circuit current in the system to be protected and u denoting the voltage at the fuse. The sinusoidal operating voltage UN is also shown in FIG.
It can be clearly seen that both fuses respond after the same short melting time ts of about 1 to 3 ms, but that the total switch-off time, the forward current Ion, the heat integral f i2 dt and the overvoltage are higher in the known design than in the inventive design - tion in which the arc voltage surprisingly does not exceed the maximum value of the driving voltage despite a very steep rise. The forward current Ip is equal to the melt current Ig, i.e. H. the fuse according to the invention has an extraordinarily current-limiting effect, while in the known embodiment the forward current still rises to the value] -n after the melting time ts.
2a shows an embodiment of the fusible conductor. The fusible conductor consists of a relatively wide silver strip 1. A somewhat thicker strip is attached to the silver strip 1 for better heat dissipation.

Silver-plated copper band 2 welded on. The dimensions of the fusible conductor remain the same for all current levels except for the bandwidth, which consists of multiples of the width B. In this way, at higher current levels, the parallel connection of numerous individual fusible conductors can be avoided, which can cause uneven burn-up. So-called ignition bridges between fusible conductors connected in parallel are also not necessary.

3 shows an enlarged section of a strip conductor corresponding to FIG. 2a in two views. The constriction is dimensioned such that the width b of a constriction is approximately equal to its length l, and that the ratio of the width of the constriction b to the thickness s of the fusible link is about 5: 1. The transition from the narrow point to the full cross-section takes place at an angle Ci. of a maximum of 250 in relation to a line perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the fuse element.
