Coil for electrical devices.
The present invention relates to coils for electrical devices and, more particularly, to the insulation of coils for high voltage winding. If the voltage of the line containing a coil is very high, the potential difference between adjacent winding layers of the coils can become so great that very careful insulation is necessary, and the present invention aims to provide a simple and effective, but easy to apply insulation to accomplish.
According to the present invention, coils whose individual winding layers are all wound in the same or alternately in opposite directions are provided with a strip of insulating material which surrounds the first respectively. is folded around the last turn of each layer of turns, with the strips between the adjacent winding layers reaching towards or to the opposite end of the coil.
In the drawing Fig0 1 shows a plan view of a transformer coil according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a section on line 11-11 of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is
EMI1.1
a section similar to FIG. 2, but with the winding layers wound alternately in opposite directions.
The coil shown in Figs. 1-3 is of the type commonly used in transformers and consists of a number of turns of suitably insulated wire 2. The transfer of the wire from one end of the coil to the other is illustrated in Fig. 3, after which the wire 2 is bent at 3 approximately at right angles to the end of the spool, and is bent again at 4 such that the winding can be continued in the same direction. A sleeve 5 of non-conductive material is pushed onto the part 6 of the wire which leads from one end of the coil to the other.
These transfer guide pieces of the wire can all be located on one side of the spool and distributed there, as shown in FIG. 1, or they can be distributed around the spool, whereby an excessive bulging of the spool at one point is prevented.
The insulation used consists of strips or sheets 7 of suitable insulating material, for example from paraffiniortem or otherwise treated paper, the width of which is almost twice as large as the length of a turn layer and each of the latter has two such strips around the outer or end turns the situation on a respectively. are bent around the other end of the coil to form sleeves for the same and extend in opposite directions towards or to the opposite end of the coil on the two sides of the remaining turns of the winding layer.
It follows from this that the adjacent winding layers of the coils are separated from one another by four layers of the insulation means, that this insulation can be applied easily and with little space requirement and can be used with safety and accuracy. The end turns of each winding layer are completely protected and held in place, and the entire coil has the smallest possible dimensions.
The dimensions of the individual strips can of course be varied within wide limits and, if desired, more than one strip can be bent around each end turn. Fig. 4 shows in section the application of the insulation in a coil,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
whose consecutive winding atagon are wound in alternately opposite directions, whereby the consecutive winding layers must be started alternately from one and the other end of the coil and the adjacent strips extend from one and the same coil end to the other have to be enough. The same reference numbers are used to designate the individual parts as in FIG. 2.
The invention can of course be used not only for transformer spuion but for coils of any type.
