Overrunning clutch for cardan shafts, especially on agricultural machinery
The invention relates to an overrunning clutch for cardan shafts, in particular on agricultural machinery.
Cardan shafts, especially those that are connected to agricultural machinery by standardized splines, often require an overrunning clutch to avoid damage to the machine parts if the speed suddenly drops on the drive side as a result of the machines' moments of inertia. These freewheel clutches must be attached in such a way that the position of the joint yokes in relation to one another is not changed when the freewheel is active, as otherwise a degree of irregularity is caused on the output side, i.e. H. that the shaft part rotates at one end of the cardan shaft at a non-uniform angular speed.
Relocating the overrunning clutch to the outer joint forks, however, encounters difficulties insofar as these joint forks must already be provided with a quick coupling to connect the
PTO shaft with the standardized splines attached to the machines. This quick-release coupling must be easy to use and guarantee reliable axial support even against greater axial forces. In addition, there is only a small amount of space available, especially on the tractor near the standardized spline journal, and that the center of the joint should be as close as possible to the end of the spline journal due to the stress on the spline journal and its mounting.
In the case of overload clutches, it is known to guide balls radially in the hub-shaped part and to allow them to engage in a groove in the spline shaft.
In contrast, the invention consists in designing the hub-shaped part of an overrunning clutch for cardan shafts at the same time as a sliding quick coupling with axial locking, with balls guided in radial bores of the freewheeling hub engaging in a groove in the splined shaft in the coupling position. In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the coupling part rotatable on the hub during the freewheeling process is firmly connected, for example screwed, to the flange of a joint fork.
The freewheel clutch according to the invention combines the freewheel clutch with the quick-release coupling for the articulated shaft in a space-saving manner, with perfect running at a uniform angular speed at both ends of the articulated shaft. This is related to the fact that the position of the joint yokes or the universal joints with respect to one another cannot be changed by the overrunning clutch. The center point of the universal joint is as close to the end of the standardized spline journal as with a normal joint yoke, so that harmful bending stresses on the spline journal and its storage are excluded. The construction is simple and the overrunning clutch is inexpensive to manufacture.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing. 1 shows the overrunning clutch designed as a quick connection according to the invention is a side view, partially in section, and FIG. 2 shows a section in the plane E-F according to FIG. 1.
The coupling part 1 is designed as a hub and carries an overrunning clutch with the spherical drivers 2, a rotatable coupling part 3 and a spring 6, these parts interacting with a flange-like attachment of the coupling part 1. The coupling part 3 is screwed to a flange 13 which carries a joint fork 14. The hub of the coupling part 1 has three radial bores 11 in which spherical locking bodies 12 rest, as can be seen particularly in FIG. This blocking

bodies 12 engage in the annular groove of a standardized splined shaft journal and thus secure the coupling hub against axial displacement on the standardized splined shaft journal provided with an annular groove.
If the hub is to be slidable on the splined shaft for the purpose of dismantling or assembly, a cylindrical rotating body 15 pushed over the balls is rotated against the tension of a coiled bending spring 16, so that the balls 12 can migrate outward into the recesses of the rotating body 15 and the annular groove of the spline is free.
Fig. 2 shows the rotating body in the position where the spherical locking body is pushed inwards
EMI2.1
Spring 16 holds the rotating body 15 with its bias in the position shown in FIG.
By rotating the rotating body 15 against the tension of the spring 16, the assembly or disassembly of the joint yoke on the spline shaft can easily be carried out. Fig. 1 clearly shows that both elements, namely the overrunning clutch and the quick coupling, can be accommodated in such a small space that the center of the adjacent joint is close to the end of the standardized splined shaft.
