Antiphase antenna composed of at least two tubular dipoles, especially for Adcock direction finders
The invention relates to antiphase antennas composed of at least two tubular dipoles, which can be used in particular in the so-called Adcock arrow devices for HF and VHF. Such antennas usually consist of two vertically arranged symmetrical dipoles, which are designed either as simple or as merged dipoles. In order to achieve the desired phase shift of dipole currents, however, the symmetrical feed line intended for the dipoles must be crossed in the previous designs. This makes electrical symmetry very difficult to achieve and the coupling of this structure to the receiver is also difficult.
Any electrical unbalance causes bearing errors. In order to eliminate these errors, various balancing elements have already been used in the connection line between the antenna and the direction finder, which is not only complicated, but also disadvantageously increases the sensitivity of the entire system with regard to frequency changes.
So is z. B. from British Pat. No. 661,240 a folded dipole element is known in which the inner conductor, which is inserted in one arm of the dipole, is connected to the second arm at the point of maximum current. Several such dipoles can then be connected in parallel, which, however, entails undesirable and disadvantageous crossing of the inner conductors.
All the disadvantages of the known bushings of antiphase antennas are eliminated by the antiphase antenna composed of at least two tubular dipoles, especially for Adcock direction finders, in which the inner conductor of the coaxial feed line is inserted inside one arm of each dipole and in the point of the maximum Current to the second arm of the same dipole conducts and in which, according to the invention, the cooperating dipoles are rotated against each other so that the arms provided with the inserted conductors are diametrically opposite, whereby the whole arrangement is symmetrical with respect to its center.
The drawing shows schematically an example of the antenna according to the invention. The supporting structure consists of two tubes 1 and 2, which at the same time form the elements of the antenna system. At the ends of the transverse tube 2 u. Between the points of zero voltage, two tubular dipoles are attached. The whole antenna system is made up of tubes, which also form the outer conductor of the coaxial feed line. The inner conductor 5 introduced in the tube 1 is connected to the center of the inner conductor 6 affixed in the tube 2 and extends into the actual dipoles 3 and 4. In the left dipole 3, the conductor 6 goes through the upper Alm and is conductively connected to the lower arm of the same dipole; on the other hand, the conductor 6 enters the lower arm of the dipole 4 on the other side.
This shows that the whole arrangement is symmetrical with respect to the center. This symmetry is further ensured by the inner conductor 6 connecting the two dipoles being connected to the coaxial conductor 5 at its electrical center point. The participating receiver, which is not shown, is coupled to the coaxial line 1, 5.
The characteristic impedance of the coaxial line 2, 6 and the mutual distance between the two dipoles 3 and 4 is dimensioned in such a way that a broadband impedance and, at the same time, a sufficient DF

accuracy is achieved.
In comparison with such already existing systems, the antenna system according to the invention has several essential advantages, which have also been proven in practice. The system has a very high electrical symmetry, it can be tapped directly at the coaxial input of the receiver, the effect of the interference currents on the connection line between the antenna and the receiver is greatly suppressed; the system has a very wide impedance and is very simple electrically. The conductive connection of the individual antenna elements with the grounded structure protects the entire system against static charges, as a result of which the noise voltage is also reduced.
