EMI1.1
<tb>
<tb> a) <SEP> 25 <SEP> Volumprozent <SEP> Trichloräthylen
<tb> 50 <SEP> Perchloräthylen
<tb> 25 <SEP> " <SEP> Methylenchlorid
<tb> b) <SEP> 35 <SEP> Volumprozent <SEP> Trichloräthylen

Process for disinfecting rooms and objects
Certain halogenated hydrocarbons, such as dichlorobenzene, dichloroethane and hexachloroethane, have been ascribed insecticidal, fungicidal or bactericidal effects.
The present invention is based on the finding that binary mixtures of trichlorethylene and perchlorethylene, trichlorethylene and methylene chloride, perchlorethylene and methylene chloride and ternary mixtures of trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene and methylene chloride have an excellent bactericidal effect. Accordingly, according to the method of the invention, the rooms or objects to be disinfected are treated with these mixtures in the form of liquids, mists or in vapor form. When using mixtures containing trichlorethylene, it is expedient to use mixtures in which trichlorethylene makes up at most half of the mixture, based on volume.
The following mixtures in particular have proven themselves for the stated purpose:
EMI1.1
<tb>
<tb> a) <SEP> 25 <SEP>% by volume <SEP> trichlorethylene
<tb> 50 <SEP> perchlorethylene
<tb> 25 <SEP> "<SEP> methylene chloride
<tb> b) <SEP> 35 <SEP>% by volume <SEP> trichlorethylene
<tb> 65 <SEP> perchlorethylene.

You can add other disinfectants or other additives to the chlorinated hydrocarbons, for example those which, like turpentine oil, have an odor-improving effect, eg. B. add in amounts of 10 to 15%.
In the case of room disinfection, the liquids are atomized with the usual spray devices or evaporated in the apparatus known for room disinfestation. Instruments, vessels and other objects can also be washed with the liquids. The effect of the listed mixtures against infectious germs is particularly lasting at temperatures above 100 C approximately to 200 C. A great advantage is the short treatment time, the cheapness of the agents used, their long shelf life and the versatility of their application.
