Control device for a hydraulic fluid brake.
The invention relates to a control device for a hydraulic fluid brake which is used for braking a rotating mass as well as for braking a vehicle.
Such brakes are known to be based on the principle that the living force of the mass to be braked is used to drive a liquid pump which pressurizes the liquid in a space from which it flows out through a throttle opening in order to re-enter via the suction line of the pump mentioned to be introduced to the cycle.
Since the number of strokes of the pump decreases with the decreasing speed of the mass to be braked, the pressure generated in the liquid, i.e. ultimately the braking effect, would decrease steadily and almost completely cease towards the end of the movement, provided that the throttle opening mentioned remained the same .
Such a course of the braking effect is of course quite undesirable.
In a known hydraulic fluid brake, the required level of braking effect is achieved by adjusting a control piston to be actuated by the driver, which allows the throttle opening mentioned above to be blocked more or less. In contrast, the control device according to the invention is characterized in that it automatically maintains the braking effect at the required level, in that the throttle point, through which the liquid flows from the pressure chamber of the pump into the suction chamber, automatically experiences a change in the sense that it with decreasing speed or number of strokes of the pump is reduced, so that the braking effect does not experience any reduction with decreasing speed.
At the same time, the control device is designed in such a way that it always produces the same effect regardless of the direction of rotation of the axis driving the pump. H. that the suction and pressure sides can be interchanged with one another as required.
The structural design of the control device which ensures such an effect can be seen from the drawing, on which the control device is partially illustrated schematically in section.
The control device according to the invention is connected by means of the connection piece 1 to the pressure chamber of a pump, not shown in the drawing, which is put into operation by the mass to be braked or the vehicle to be braked during braking. The connection piece 2 of the control device is connected to the suction chamber, for example the suction line of the pump. There is a cylinder between the two connecting pieces. 3, to which the pipe socket 1 and 2 are expediently brought up diametrically opposite one another.
In the cylinder. 3 a piston -1 is arranged, one of the two connecting pieces j! and 2 connecting slot or gap. 5 possesses; on one end face - in the illustrated embodiment on the upper one - the piston 4 is provided with a piston rod-like extension 6 guided outwardly through a stuffing box. This approach brings about a difference in the effective areas of the piston, which - as will become apparent from the description of the mode of operation of the device - is necessary for the operation of the device. The pipe sockets 1 and 2 each have two openings that are dominated by valves 7, 8, 9 and 10.
The valves 7, 9 open outwards under the action of pressure, the valves 8, 10 open inwards under the action of suction and close under the action of pressure. A line 11 leads from the housing of the valve 7 to the housing 12 of a piston 1. 3; a branch line 14 leads
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
to the cylinder 3 and opens into its part located above the piston 1. A second branch line 15 leads to the housing of the valve 9 and thus to the pipe socket S or to the suction chamber of the pump. From the housing 12 of the piston! 3 leads a line 16 to a line 17 which is below the piston J in the cylinder. 3 ends. In the line 17 there is an adjusting device i (screw) 18, by means of which the flow cross section of the line 17 can be changed.
The housing of the adjusting device 18 is in communication with the housing of the valve 8 through a line 19, with the housing of the valve 10 through a line 20 and with a container 22 through a line 21. The piston 13 located in the housing 12 serves as a gate valve opposite the throttled mouth of the line 16; it is controlled by a membrane 2. 3, which can be placed under the influence of different air pressure through lines 24 and: 2. 5).
The operation of the device according to the invention is as follows: When the brake is not actuated, the pump is switched off, and the position of the piston J in the cylinder is therefore meaningless.
If braking is to be carried out, the pump is coupled with its drive device. It conveys liquid into the pipe connection piece 1. Depending on the position of the piston 4 in the cylinder 3 and on the basis of the clear passage cross section of the slot 5, the liquid in the pipe connection piece 1 is pressurized. As a result, the valve 8 is pressed onto its seat, but the valve 7 is opened; Pressure fluid fills the tube 11 and accordingly also, via the tube 14, the space of the cylinder located above the piston 4. 3 and presses the piston 4 downwards, whereby the flow cross-section offered through the gap or slot 5 of the piston 4 for the liquid flowing from the pressure side (pipe socket 1) to the suction side (pipe socket 2) of the pump is reduced.
By the pressure fluid reaching the valve 9 through the branch line 15, this valve is pressed firmly onto its seat. In the pipe connection piece 2 prevails
EMI2.1
Pressure fluid located in the tube 11 presses on the piston 13; the membrane 23 is acted upon by compressed air from below via the line 25 and from above via the line 24. The pressures exerted on the two sides of the diaphragm 2.3 are different. The extent of their difference is subject to the possibility of arbitrary change. In general, the pressure exerted on the top of the membrane 23 will be considerably less than the pressure exerted on the underside thereof.
The pressure exerted on the upper face of the piston 4 initially moves the piston 4 downwards; As a result, the flow cross-section for the hydraulic fluid formed by the slot or gap 5 of the piston 4 and the clear openings in the pipe connection pieces 1 and 2 is reduced, and the dynamic pressure is greater; As a result, the pressure exerted on the upper end face of the piston 13 is also greater, the piston is moved downward and exposes the opening of the channel 16 located in the housing 12 for the piston 13 if it had previously closed it or if it enlarges it Flow cross section at this point; the lower end face of the piston 4 is subjected to the same pressure as its upper end face.
Because of the presence of the piston rod-like extension 6, the effective area of the upper end face of the piston 4 is smaller than that of the lower end face. The piston 4 is moved upwards; the flow cross-section, which connects the connecting piece 1, which is under dynamic pressure, to the connecting piece 2 of the control device, which is under low pressure, becomes larger, the dynamic pressure is lower, the load on the upper face of the piston 13 is lower, the piston 13 moves upwards and throttles the The mouth of the channel 16 or blocks it.
The lower end face of the piston 4 is relieved via the throttle device 18, the amount of liquid flowing out via this throttle device partly reaches the line 20 and is sucked off by the pump via the valve 10; if this does not happen, it enters the container 22.
The piston 4 moves downwards, the flow cross-section in the control device changes, the dynamic pressure increases and the predetermined play is repeated. In this way, the braking effect achieved by the generation of fluid pressure regulates itself automatically.
The arbitrary regulation of the pressure forces of the compressed air acting on both sides of the membrane 23 allows arbitrary regulation of the braking effect.
